Princess Mononoke Fantasy Scenes - Joe Hisaishi
Princess Mononoke (1997) is recognized for its outstanding soundtrack. The CD "Princess Mononoke" recorded by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra after the film's release is also widely known. The CD arrangement follows the soundtrack and adds detailed scenes from the film with some development.Consider this arrangement a sequel to my previous "Selections from Princess Mononoke" as I have utilized additional songs from the soundtrack.By commission request from Mr. Shindo, director of the Girls Junior & Senior High School band club of Seitoku University, I arranged "San and Ashitaka in the Forest of the Deer" and "World of the Dead." The original features piano solo, which is very appealing. I made it optional which can be played by other instruments if needed. This piece is a light-hearted waltz in the Viennese style, and waswritten in the 1970s by the composer's father as a gift to his wife. Thomas Doss arranged the piece - originally written for piano - for wind band and in doing so created an orchestral work, which is suitable for the concert hall as well as for special occasions or celebrations.

£144.99Andante & Rondo - Antonio Capuzzi
Antonio Capuzzi (August 1, 1755 - March 28, 1818) was an Italian violinist and composer who studied violin with Nazari and composition with Bertoni. In 1805 he moved to Bergamo, where he was professor of violin at the Instituto Musicale and leader of the orchestra at Teatro Riccardi. He was highly regarded there both as a teacher and a performer. Although popular in his day, most of his music is now forgotten; his most commonly performed piece today is the Concerto for Double Bass. All of Capuzzi's known compositions were written during his Venetian years. It was in Venice that Capuzzi became close friends with Domenico Dragonetti, Beethoven's virtuoso bassist. It isspeculated that Capuzzi wrote his Concerto for Double Bass for Dragonetti. Gerald Oswald has made a fine arrangement of the second (Andante) and third (Rondo) movements of the concerto to feature either euphonium or tuba with concert band. The solo part is also available in an edition with piano accompaniment.

Paul Gilson's Premier Concerto from 1902 is one of the first compositions for saxophone. The Belgian composer used all the typical characteristics of the instrument, such as its powerful tone, suppleness, virtuosity and warm sound. Tom de Haeshas created a reconstruction based on the partly missing original version for concert band, the piano score and the version for symphony orchestra.

£194.99Euphonium Concerto II - Philip Sparke
The original concept for this work was a suite of short movements, each with its own character, but by the time the first movement was complete it was clear that a conventional three-movement format was going to work out better. The opening movement contains much syncopation and is almost rag-like in style. The slower second movement explores the unsurpassable ability of the euphonium to play lyrically, with a theme that is later taken up by the band whilst the soloist weaves a filigree descant. This leads straight into the third movement, which is almost bebop in style and shows off the jazzier capabilities of the euphonium. The concerto was composed for the virtuoso soloist,Steven Mead. A version for euphonium and piano is also available.

Cyclist in Moscow - Jan de Haan
Cyclist in Moscow was written to introduce beginner players to ensemble playing as early as possible. Thanks to the low grade of difficulty of this piece this it is possible to play in a 'real band' after only a few lessons. Because of the four-part instrumentation, Cyclist in Moscow is suitable for smaller strengths, taking into account that it is important to divide parts evenly among the players. Also includes an ad-lib keyboard/piano part to support the ensemble.
