£62.95National Emblem (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Bagley, Edwin Eugene - Custer, Calvin
This brilliantly scored version of E.E. Bagley's most notable work continues to provide that 'in your face' sound so loved by audiences. The use, somewhat camouflaged, of The Star Spangled Banner certainly contributes to this degree of fame, plus the fact that it is a march strong on brass and percussion, which never fails to inspire performers or those who listen. Technical difficulties are limited, but the sheer joy of the work shines through. Highly recommended! Duration: 3.00

Bridge Between Nations - Jacob de Haan
This work builds a musical bridge between the nations of the European Union. In this composition each country is represented by a fragment of its national anthem. The listener will continually be surprised by the creative way the national anthems are presented. The national anthems of the nations that have become part of the EU in 2004 have already been included in this piece. Because the fragments follow each other and complement each other in a logical way, this work does not sound like a regular medley but rather like a varied concert work with interesting elements of folklore. For most of the national anthems Jacob de Haan has chosen a minor key, which gives this work an extraemotional, sometimes melancholic overtone.

£141.99Pulcinella - Philip Sparke
Pulcinella was commissioned by the Taiwanese euphonium player Tzu-Hsiang Lin. Lin is a renowned soloist and teacher and a Besson Euphonium Artist. He teaches euphonium at Taipei National University of the Arts, National Taiwan University of Arts, Shih Chien University and National Kaohsiung Normal University. Lin gave the premiere of Pulcinella in both its concert band and brass band versions in January 2021. Pulcinella continues Sparke's series of euphonium solos named after characters of the Italian commedia dell'arte and opens with a long and expressive minor melody for the soloist over a brooding accompaniment. This is taken up briefly by the full band and is extended by the soloist after a change of key. A cadenza, accompanied by fragments of the main melody leads to a complete change of mood, tempo and tonality, introducing a Vivo section starting with a perky syncopated tune for the soloist. The band then uses elements of this new tune to introduce a change of key, where the soloist introduces a more lyrical second subject over a pulsing accompaniment. The band then takes this up and changes key to reintroduce the original Vivo melody, which leads to a short and acrobatic coda to bring the work to a spectacular close.

£38.20Royal Jubilee - Henk van Lijnschooten
On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Royal Dutch Federation of Wind Bands Mr. Henk van Lijnschooten was commissioned to compose a festive march. The main condition for the composer to fulfill was to make this march suitable for execution by bands of varying levels.Almost every one of the appr. 1000 orchestras united in the Federation have the march Royal Jubilee in their possession. The positive response of numerrous bands proves that it is not just some "composition for an occasion" but a march of lasting value which can be used to advantage on festive and solemn events.Royal Jubilee is based on Dutch motifs. The first section is dominated by the initial motiv of the Dutc National Anthem Wilhelmus. It is not just by chance that it is done in marching tempo, the National Anthem stems from a seventeenth century marching song. It was later in history that is grew customary to perform the Wilhelmus at a more solemn tempo. The second section (trio) of Royal Jubilee is of a more solemn character and at its end a fragment can be heard of a song (wier Neerlands Bloed) that served as the Dutch National Anthem for some time but later went into oblivion. The scoring of Royal Jubilee has made it suitable for any type of windband, whereas a drumband could be added ad libitum.

£33.10Hunyadi Indul - Ferenc Erkel
The first performance of the opera "Hunyadi Lszl" by Ferenc Erkel (1810-1893) at the National Theater in Pest took place in times that foreboded the revolt of 1848. The rise of this stage work to Hungary's national opera and its ensuing immediate great success probably is due to the plot itself and the atmosphere prevailing in the country at that time. The great flute virtuoso and composer Franz Doppler (1821-1883) asked "Erkel to grant permission to write a march on the basis of motifs from this opera for my citizen's guards band, which he explicitly consented to ..." From the days of the revolution against Habsburg until today the "Hunyadi indul" ("March on Motifs of theOpera 'Hunyadi'") has remained to be popular throughout and therefore may rightly be addressed as a Hungarian national march.

£84.99March-Chagu-Chagu - Satoshi Yagisawa
This work was composed as ceremonial music, as part of a march medley for the participants' entry for the 71st National Sports Festival and the 16th National Disabled Personnel Sports Festival, held in Iwate Prefecture in 2016. The European premiere of this piece took place in December of that year, the composer guest conducting the Young Musicians from Fribourg, Switzerland. £106.99The Way to Heaven - Philip Sparke
The Way to Heaven was commissioned by the Royal Air Force Music Services. 2015 was the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, which took place between July and October 1940, when the courageous fighter pilots of the Royal Air Force thwarted Hitler's ambitions to launch an invasion on the UK.The Way to Heaven opens with fluttering woodwind figures and brass fanfares, which build to a climax before a change of key introduces a short quotation for the Polish National Anthem - Mazurek Dbrowskiego. This fades and you can hear the signal to scramble and the throaty sounds of the squadron's Merlin engines bursting into life before theyline up to take off. This leads to the main thematic material of the work, which depicts the heaven-bound flight of 303 Squadron as it climbs to intercept the incoming Messerschmitt 109s. A brief allusion to the Polish national anthem brings the piece to a triumphant close.
