£122.50After Mozart
Lszl Dubrovay's work, written in 2006, on the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth, is a salute of a 21st-century composer to one of the greatest geniuses in the history of music. The composer builds his original ideas on one of the best-known melodies of The Marriage of Figaro (Figaro's aria: ''Non pi? andrai, farfallone amoroso''). The series of variations on the theme of the aria is created by the involvement of special instruments, and by fully harnessing their technical abilities, while Dubrovay's hallmark of a perfect balance and peculiar compositional tone is realised on an exceptionally large orchestra. The work is suited to illustrate the potentials of crossovers between different periods in the history of music, but it can also be played at a festive, thematic concert.

£134.99Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus - Takahashi, Tohru
In 1786, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed his wonderful opera Le Nozzi di Figaro. In the opera Count Almaviva tries to seduce the fianc?e of Figaro, his valet. Eventually, through four acts full of complicated intrigue, he is outwitted. In his music, Mozart, at times in a humorous way, reflects the numerous social and erotic intrigues with both empathy and insight. The brilliant overture is just as vivacious and witty as the opera itself. Mozart delightfully anticipates the passion and playful love that is to come. The skilful transcription for concert band by the Japanese composer Tohru Takahashi certainly does justice to this enchanting music.

Concerto for Horn No.2 in Eb - Rondo (Last Movement) - Score and Parts - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 2 in Eb, completed on 27 May 1783 was possibly the first of the four horn concertos to be written despite its number. It was composed for Mozart’s lifelong friend Ignaz Leitgeb whom he liked to poke much fun as the original manuscript demonstrated in the concertos sub heading ‘Wolfgang Amad? Mozart has taken pity with the Leitgeb ass, ox and fool.' There are also comedic moments in this last movement towards the close where there are gaps in the music and an accelerated coda section.
