This new original paso doble was commissioned by the Richmond Hill Middle School Band, Richmond Hill, Georgia. It provides an opportunity for young bands to perform this popular traditional classic Spanish march style. (Paso Doble literally means two-step.) This is the music of the bull fight, and of the civic celebrations in the Spanish community, and is one of the classic types of marches that bands and their audiences have enjoyed for many generations. While this work is in the style of the great professional bands of Spain, it is readily playable by young bands.

£289.99Divertimento - Oliver Waespi
This grand work contains four contrasting movements. The first movement, Prelude, takes the form of an overture: it raises the curtains and marks the beginning of the piece. The brilliant motifs of the opening are contrasted by a calmer and more lyrical central section, after which the triumphant opening returns for the movement's end. The second movement, Meditation, explores the intimate sounds of the oboe, as well as those of the flute and French horn, backed by a rich orchestral accompaniment. The third movement presents a more upbeat Procession, but not a Procession of the Nobles, as written by Rimsky-Korsakov. Quite the opposite, Procession resembles a "second line"procession from New Orleans, whose up-beat rhythms invite everyone to dance in the streets rather than the measured pacing of a march. Divertimento ends with a Hoedown, the tradition American folk dance idiom, when the band has the opportunity for both vivacity and virtuosity and may play as fast as it can. It is important to play all four movements with precision, clarity and, most importantly, enthusiasm.

Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea - Joe Hisaishi
The sound track ofPonyo on a Cliff by the Seaincludes a number of famous and familiar melodies as parody. I arranged it to exaggerate the fun-ness. "Deep Sea Ranch" from the film's beginning is reminiscent of Ravel's Lever du jour (Daphnis et Chlo); "Flight of Ponyo" with Wagner'sRide of the Valkyries, and "Mother of the Sea" with Jean Paul Martini'sPlaisir d'amour. 4 Miniatures for Winds: 1. Wind 2. Storm 3. Rain 4. Sun and Snow There was a little child who enthusiastically told a story ... and a composer who was equally inspired by the child and its story to write these miniatures. At the premier performance of my composition "Arcus" in March 2011, when I explained how a piece about the rainbow came into being, a little girl came up to me and asked: "Thiemo, what about the man in the clouds?" I obviously had forgotten to include him, though he is as the little girl informed me of extreme importance in the sky: "He sits in the clouds and is responsible for the weather. He shakes rain, wind, storm or snow out of the clouds, he pushes them aside to let the sunshine through or he models them into funny figures, making people on earth smile." Fascinated by the girl's ingenuous ideas I created this small composition, sitting in my study and letting my mind wander into the sky. As the man in the clouds naturally has to have a name, I decided to call him "Cloud(iu)s ... man in the clouds". I dedicate this piece to the children of my beginner's band, who show me again and again how wonderful and precious it is to delight in the small things in life ...
