This concert march was comissioned by The Royal Norwegian Navy Band for the farewell concert of their manger, Commander Truls Sandaker in March 2017. Sandaker left the Military to become manager of the Festspillene i Vestfold and the march is composed wirh that change in mind the change from Military to civilian. The march is inspired by- and consist of Norwegian signals, themes and songs related to the marine and to the home area of Truls Sandaker.

The Picadore - John Philip Sousa
John Philip Sousa wrote this great march when he was the leader of the Marine band in 1889, and it depicts the experience of a horseman during a bullfight. In a distinctive minor key to start, this is a unique Sousa march. Arranger Andrew Balent has tamed this march down in difficulty without loosing the intent of the original. A nice choice for a warm-up march at contest or festival.

Mercury is a concert march composed in a typically British idiom. In 1990, Jan Van der Roost wrote this piece on the occasion of the 15-year anniversary of his own band: Brass Band Midden Brabant. Like many British marches, the main theme is written in a minor key. Powerful and virtuoso themes characterize the first part of this march, while the trio melody is much more melodical, offering the tenor register to display its lyrical skills. Follows a dynamic passage for trombones and trumpets/cornets, leading to a "grandioso" version of the main trio melody and thus concluding this march in a magnificent way.

To The Max
Written for the American Band College and their annual summer parade performance while riding on a truck, "To The Max" is a traditional march with modern twists. In homage to Edwin Franko Goldman, the march includes the audience singing and whistling during the trio. The composer even scored a part for the truck's air horn for performance during the parade that prompts a most interesting visual response from the audience!
