King Karl King - Henry Fillmore

Originally written for a film (The Big Brass Band) that was never made, this terrific but little-known march turned out to be the last march that Fillmore would write. Unusually rich in harmony, it was not published in Fillmore's lifetime. He had asked that it be named after his friend and fellow march composer, Karl L. King, if the movie was not produced.

Them Basses (Flexible Ensemble - Score and Parts) - Huffine, Getty H. - Glover, Andrew

A Haunted Trilogy (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Johnson, Jim H.

A Haunted Trilogy is guaranteed to become a favorite for student and audience alike. Set as a trilogy of three short movements, your band can play one for a quick novelty piece, or all three as a divertimento or program music. "March of the Gremlins" opens the suite with an eerie march. "Tarantella For Trolls" continues the spooky musical fun with a slightly twisted little dance. "Goblin's Gavotte" closes our haunted suite with an ominous romp. It's mischievously impish, looming, conniving, and a great learning piece for chromatics in three different styles. Boo! Con Brio (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Ford, Ralph

Scored in traditional, or standard march form, this original work has all the opportunities for varied performance that are found in Sousa's revered marches. The trio section features a melody from "The Maple Leaf Forever" and is quite appropriate since the march was commissioned and premiered by the Con Brio Festivals in British Columbia. This is a sparkling original march in the style that is at the very root of the concert band art form. A brisk energizing choice!Duration: 3.00

Marche Militaire (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Schubert, Franz - Harnsberger, L. C.

One of the most familiar and popular marches ever written is Franz Schubert's Military March No.1. Schubert (1797--1828) was one of the most prolific composers of all time, having written symphonies, chamber music, piano works, and over 600 songs, yet he only lived to the age of 32. The march was originally written for piano four-hands, however, this arrangement for young band sounds as if it was first written for military band. Woodwinds, brass, and percussion all shine with fun and interesting parts that work well together. This arrangement is perfect for an opener or closer to any concert.Duration: 2.15

Mercury (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Van der Roost, Jan

Mercury is a concert march composed in a typically British idiom. In 1990, Jan Van der Roost wrote this piece on the occasion of the 15-year anniversary of his own band: Brass Band Midden Brabant. Like many British marches, the main theme is written in a minor key. Powerful and virtuoso themes characterise the first part of this march, while the trio melody is much more melodical, offering the tenor register to display its lyrical skills. Follows a dynamic passage for trombones and trumpets/cornets, leading to a "grandioso" version of the main trio melody and thus concluding this march in a magnificent way.Duration: 3.00
