The Fall of Troy - Ryan Meeboer
The legend of the great city of Troy varies depending on historical or fictional belief. This city was the location of the long lasting Trojan Wars, between the people of Troy and the Greeks. The fall of Troy is probably most accredited to the Greek's plan to build the Trojan Horse, use it to sneak inside cities walls, and defeat Troy's army while they slept. This story comes alive in music with fanfares, a sweeping lyrical section and the aggressive attack on the Troy. Fun to play and fun to listen to, there is something great to play in each part.

Return to Wind River - Jared Spears
The Wind River Mountain Range and many wilderness areas lie southeast of Yellowstone's National Park in Wyoming. This descriptive overture was inspired by the composer's visits to this beautiful, pristine and mysterious country during his college days. The outer allegro sections recall the excitement of travel, exploration and discovery. The slower, contrasting section portrays the stillness and beauty of a serene mountain lake or peaceful riverbank where, a long time ago, Native Americans may have fished, hunted, and played.

Beyond Whistler - Ralph Ford
The closing movement from the is "Beyond Whistler." After whisking down this highest and most treacherous of slopes, the listener stops to view what lies beyond. This movement is finalized with a long, slow build to the climax, again using the motif that is present throughout the entire suite. It is to be performed with a great sense of wonder and excitement, with a gradual build to the end. A grand conclusion to this dynamic suite. Also consider programming the first three movements: "March: The Lion's Gate" (26772), "Shannon Falls" (26773) and "Stawamus Chief" (29630). (7:10)

Pico Rivera - John O'Reilly
Solo claves usher in the authentic Latin percussion section that sets the style for "Pico Rivera." A simple but effective bass line joins the percussion section in establishing an interesting accompaniment for the syncopated melody that follows. Rich harmonies that utilize a variety of seventh chords dominate the second theme and the "stop time" percussion fills that open the coda. A brief modulation brings us to a restatement of the opening melody with a new countermelody in the trumpets and horns. Pico Rivera is a city in Southern California that has a long tradition of producing excellent bands.
