The introduction includes quotes from both Ding! Dong! Merrily on High and Jingle Bells before transitioning into the first carol, Ding! Dong! Merrily on High. The slower, lyrical section of the work is based on the moving melody of I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day. The closing section features Jingle Bells with a few fun surprises thrown in to lead the piece to a festive conclusion. A delightful work that will highlight any seasonal performance.

Let Freedom Ring is an arrangement of the famous song America, also known as My Country Tis of Thee. While information on who and when the actual melody was composed is disputed it is known that the melody was a very well known tune. This setting begins and ends with a bold fanfare that is stately and majestic with snare drum interjections played softly with the melody, as if to represent a marching army from far away. The full band enters on the final statement of the melody for a broad, sustained, and majestic finale.

Romp! was inspired by and dedicated to the composers very cute tabby who decided that his computer table (where he composes) was his spot to be... also when coming up with ideas for this piece, it seemed to fit him very well. The piece represents how he tends to wake up instantly and spring into action... running and darting here and there. The solo breaks and legato section represents how he can shift gears, stopping quickly, then springing right back to his romping around. There is optional "cat meowing" at the end that can be done by one person, if your group has someone who does a good cat meow, or electronically if you have the equipment. Or you can leave it out, though it does add a nice touch.
