Magic Feeling (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Jeanbourquin, Marc
To mark its centenary, the Musikgesellschaft Hinterkappelen-Wohlen decided to commission a light-hearted work comprising different styles brought together in one setting. With this in mind, Marc Jeanbourquin composed a piece with a theme based on a short 5 note ascending motif. He developed this theme in various styles: funk, ballad, Celtic and, finally, rock. Everything comes together at the end of the piece with this magical ascending motif. Will the musicians conjure and retain a magical spirit full of energy and vitality through playing Magic Feeling? Most certainly! Duration: 3.00

Gloria (Concert Band with opt. Choir - Score and Parts) - Rutter, John - Noble, Paul
Gloria is one of Rutter's most ambitious concert works, and its premiere was the occasion for his first visit to the US, in May, 1974. Rutter himself sees this work as analogous to a symphony, with three movements-- allegro vivace, andante, vivace e ritmico--i.e., fast, slow, fast, in common with symphonic practice, and, says Rutter, "exalted, devotional and jubilant by turns". As with many of Noble's arrangements of John Rutter's compositions, this work is written for combined Chorus and Concert Band, but may be performed by Concert Band alone.

Namase Rhapsody (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Van der Roost, Jan
Namase Rhapsody differs in several respects from most other concert works by Jan Van der Roost, with its impressive twists and turns and musical allusions to the work of John Adams. A first, minimalist movement, is followed by a lyrical and expressive second movement for various soloists in different ranges. The third movement sees a stark change of mood with a rigid metrical figure before a powerful and energetic close.Duration: 8:45

Andante (from Prince Igor) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Borodin, Alexander - Bullock, Jack
Alexander Borodin (1833-1887) was a well-known Russian composer, particularly for his opera, Prince Igor. Borodin was in the middle of composing the piece when he suddenly died. Rimsky-Korsakov and another Russian composer, Alexander Glazanov, completed the unfinished score and the opera had its debut in November of 1890, three and a half years after his death. During the overture prelude, a beautiful flowing melody from Act III, entitled Andante, is an emotional addition to the young band literature. Most musical!Duration: 3.00
