A magnificent programmatic work for symphonic band that is an offering to Pele, the Goddess of Hawaii's volcanoes. The work opens with primordial, mysterious sounds representing the foreboding volcanoes of Hawaii. We are then introduced to Pele as a tall, beautiful young woman. This is one of the forms she can take and it represents her powers of creation and beauty. This gives way to the active and destructive Pele, often taking the form of an old woman, wrinkled and bent with age. The following lyrical section of the piece is the full statement of Pele's theme of creation and beauty. As this theme settles, we begin to hear the ground pop and crack letting us know that new lava is beginning to bubble and flow. Suddenly and violently, one of her volcanoes erupts, creating massive chaos and destruction. After the eruption subsides, Pele's theme of creation and beauty returns again. A wonderful addition to any concert or festival performance by mature bands. Exceptional in every respect!

The iconic Fantasia, - her most popular work, which brought her to prominence - is a composition for symphonic orchestra based on traditional Welsh nursery tunes and lullabies.It is a light-hearted musical journey through childhood in eight traditional tunes. The jubilant start to the work is echoed in the finale, with a calmer, but effectively scored middle section.The Fantasia was featured in the 2024 Last Night of the Proms. Nar himmelen faller ned (When the sky falls down) is the most famous song by Norwegian singer/songwriter Anne Grete Preus (1957-2019). It was released as single record in 1998 and included on the "Best of" collection "Mosaikk - 16 biter" later the same year. The song was also one of her very first hits as a solo artist. Her great career included many prestigious awards. Most notably are the "Spellemannsprisen" (the Norwegian Grammy) which she won several times. This arrangement was originally written for Preus herself as vocal soloist with Concert Band. In this reworked version, the vocal solo part can be omitted as the melody is spread out in the various band parts. Duration: 4.15
