At the recording sessions for his album 'Disco Baby' (1975) Van McCoy had one extra hour of studio time left and so he wrote 'The Hustle' in a hurry, as a well-known New York disc jockey had told McCoy about a new dance rage. Contrary to McCoy's expectations, this song became a real hit and even a number one hit in the States. In 1976, the song was awarded a Grammy as Best Pop Instrumental Performance.

Gustav Holst (Cheltenham, 1874 - London, 1934) was one of the very first great British composers of classical music to write some valuable original compositions for symphonic band. Holst composed operas, choral works and splendid compositions for symphony orchestra. He got famous with his opus 32, the seven part suite 'The Planets' composed between 1914 and 1917. The first complete public performance was given in 1920. The first part, 'Mars, the war bringer' was written just before the outburst of the First World War. Geert Schrijvers wrote this fine arrangement for symphonic band, organ and two harps.

Guido d'Arezzo(992 - 1050) was an Italian music theorist of the Medieval era. He developed new techniques for teaching, such as staff notation and the use of ut-re-mi-fa-so-la (later, ut became do). The original monophonic melody is written in organum in the first part, then developed in 3 modern variations, to end with a passionate finale. After the premire in 2015, the piece was revised drastically, and was performed in its final edition in 2016.

Music to Watch Girls By was the first top 40 hit from Bob Crewe with his band, The Bob Crewe Generation. He had heard the melody (composed by Sidney Ramin) in a commercial for Pepsi Light. The original instrumental version featured the trumpet and saxophone, but later Andy Williams turned it into a vocal number. The British composer Thomas Bidgood (1870-1925) was a gifted music teacher who conducted his own professional orchestra, several theatre orchestras and wind bands. He composed a lot of light orchestral music and some fifteen marches, mong which 'Sons of the Brave' and Vimy Ridge'. The title of this march refers to a ridge situated between the town of Arras and the Flemish plain in the North of France. This ridge has been assaulted numerous times since the Roman conquest. Bidgood wrote this march after the Battle of Arras in April 1917 when the Canadians conquered Vimy Ridge which was one of the strongest fortified positions of the Hindenburg Line.
