Like a dark veil, an ominous sense of foreboding takes hold across the world. A looming danger, one previously unknown to mankind, slowly approaches, bringing our daily lives to a grinding halt. A perilous virus gives us no choice other than to stay in our homes, leaving us unable to work in our offices or even visit family and friends. Something that has only been talked about in history books is coming to pass: a pandemic! The invisible danger expands more and more, and we feel paralysed by fear and fright. The distance between us and our fellow human beings increases. At the same time, we start to better understand something crucial: we have time again! People help each other out. Neighbourly assistance and support within one's own family becomes more apparent. We stand by each other. Suddenly we have the time for things that we did not have before. Time for reflection... A new era commences. Finally, hope reappears. We leave our houses, but nothing is quite the same anymore. With renewed strength, people begin to perceive the future in a positive and optimistic way once again. 'Don't Start Now', by the British singer Dua Lipa, is the first single from her second studio album, Future Nostalgia. The accompanying music video was uploaded to her YouTube channel upon the single's release. In the song, the singer tells her ex-lover that she is now over him. She gave her first live performance of it on The Graham Norton Show, after that she sang it a number of times at various award shows, TV programmes and music festivals. This arrangement by Tom Stanford will make sure that this disco pop song will also find its way into the world of wind music.

£104.99Solemnitas - Jan Van der Roost
This short but solemn overture was written on the occasion of the 110th jubilee of Harmonie Hautcharage, Luxembourg. It is an homage to Jean-Paul Frisch and his son Grard (the present conductor), who each have been conducting the ensemble for many years. Under their leadership, the band has developed and improved remarkably. The very first musical theme, presented during the introduction of this little overture, is based on the letters hidden in the names Jean-Paul and Grard Frisch (in which h is considered b - as it is in German), thus aiming the spotlight on both key figures in the history of Harmonie Hautcharage. After the rather stately intro, the allegro is more joyful and lighthearted, thus depicting the optimism of the many young players of the band. The end is exciting and energetic: it radiates positivity and belief in the future.

£224.99Lux Futura - Kevin Houben
Lux Futura (Light of the Future) was commissioned by the Royal Wind Orchestra Delft and is inspired by the letters 'D-E-L-F-T' using the letter notation system by Bla Bartk. In this 'Delft' cell, there is referral to the 'Trinitas', the bourdon bell of the Old Church in Delft, that only tolls during a funeral of a member of the Dutch Royal Family. The Delft melody switches to the 'Agneta March', which is a reference to the history of the Royal Wind Orchestra Delft. Further on the love theme, played by the bass instruments represents the love of the inhabitants for their city throughout space and time. In the middle movement, the beauty of the city is depicted by the coranglais (English horn) solo, as an ode to the lovely city of Delft. When performed, one can choose to use sound city samples recorded in Delft to create a truly magnificent spectacle. The percussion section is featured at the start, as layers of patterns build up to a vibrant full bandstatement of the main theme. The lyric middle section features short solos for clarinet and trumpet accompanied by lush background harmonies from the ensemble. The fast pace returns introduced by a playful baritone sax solofollowed by a full band recap of the opening theme and a rousing finish.

Seid (pronounced sayed was a divination ceremony practised by the Vikings which could be used to reveal knowledge of the future. During the ceremony, woman sang incantations and the Seeress (Vlva) passed into a kind of trance. In other arctic cultures similar ceremonies took place during which the Medicine man (Sage), or Shaman, would beat a drum covered with magic runes, and he too would pass into a trance, reaching the deepest part of his own sub-consciousness - a journey beyond time and space... "Seid" was commissioned by The Norwegian Band Federation and European Brass Band Assosiation for the European Brass Band Championship in 1996. The version for Concert Bandwas commissioned by Frode Amundsen and Borge Musikkorps in 2018. Supported by NOPA (Norwegian Society of Composers and Lyricists)

The song is full of hope and dreams for her future.

Composer Satoshi Yagisawa is very popular in Asia, and has a great reputation in Singapore in particular. He composed this piece in 2017 as a commission from the Yishun Primary School Concert Band. The title Inspire! comes from the initials of the classroom names at the school: Independence, Nation-Loving, Sincerity, Perseverance, Integrity, Respect and Excellence. The piece is imbued with positivity and belief in the future for the young generations to come.
