River Trail Expedition (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sheldon, Robert

Written for the Streator High School Band in Illinois, River Trail Expedition is named for the Hopalong Cassidy River Trail that winds along the banks of the Vermilion River. The trail borrows its name from the Hopalong Cassidy series of books, written by Streator native Clarence E. Mulford. This concert overture has an energetic drive which is enhanced by punctuated rhythms and edgy dissonances that contrast with the lyrical and tuneful melodies found throughout the piece. Ghosts of the Taman Negara (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Lopez, Victor

This original composition is based on a wildlife research study which took place in Malaysia's largest national park, the Taman Negara. Researchers embarked on an expedition in the jungle tracking that wildest of wild animals, the tiger. Despite spending nearly three years in the rainforest, the researchers never saw a single tiger, hence the "ghost" aspect of the title. The composer's intent in this composition is to take you on an expedition tour and emulate the experience of the jungle. The work is characterized with mysterious melodic themes intertwined with exciting bold flashes of sound. Ghosts of Taman Negara is an embracing and emotional addition to the young band literature from the pen of Victor Lopez. Duration: 4.30

Algemiz Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)

Algemesi is a town situated on the banks of the river Sucron, in the south of Valencia in Spain. Algemiz by Ferrer Ferran was inspired by two historical events connected with the town. When the Iberian peninsula was under the rule of the Romans a bloody battle took place between the armies of the generals Pompey and Sertorius known as The Battle of Sucron. Much later in the 13th century, Don Jaime 1, king of Aragon who had been defeated by the Maures d'Almenara, decided to lead an expedition to Sucron to evaluate the resistance of the Arab forces and conquer Alegmesi. This story of this expedition is told in The Dance of the Conquerors. 13:00
