The most important work by the Russian composer Modest Moussorgsky (1839-1881) is undoubtedly his masterly opera Boris Godunov. A number of years after the composer's death, this opera was re-orchestrated by Rimsky-Korsakov, with his romantic version being quiet different from the original score by Moussorgsky. Composer, flutist and conductor Franz Albert Doppler (1821-1883) descends from a musical Austrian-Hungarian family. Together with his brother Karl, who was a flute virtuoso, he travelled extensively around Europe. Arranger Gottfried Veit has arranged this appealing duet for concert band with two flutes as soloists. It is a fine addition to the repertoire and an ideal work to spotlight you flautists.

Double Concerto - Vivaldi, Antonio
This famous Allegro movement from a Vivaldi concerto for two trumpets is presented here in an arrangement loaded with flexibility as to choice of soloists and even the accompanying ensemble. May be performed as a solo or as a duet, and it includes solo/duet parts for Bb instruments: Trumpets or Clarinets; C Instruments: Flutes, Oboes, or Violins; Eb Instruments: Alto Saxophones; F Instruments: Horns; and Bass Clef instruments: Bassoons or Trombones. The accompaniment is cleverly scored so that it is playable by a full, traditional concert band; or by a "chamber wind ensemble" of woodwinds, horns, and timpani (ideal for accompanying upper woodwind soloists.)
