Echoes of Christmas - By Dave Black

Echoes of Christmas combines two Christmas favorites, "While by My Sheep" (Or "The Echo Carol") and "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen." "The Echo Carol," so named because it is written in a call and response format, is presented here with initial statement by the brass which are then immediately echoed by the woodwinds. "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" features a canonic treatment of this holiday favorite, first in the flutes and clarinets and then the entire ensemble. Children of a Different Sun - By Roland Barrett

Opening with a heroic fanfare, this stunning original composition was inspired by the 15th century Inca citadel Machu Picchu and specifically the Intihuatana stone in what is now southeastern Peru where sun worship was favored. Many historians have come to refer to the Inca Empire as "Children of the Sun." The work continues with an intense, almost frenzied, component that sets the stage for an active interplay of contrasting themes featuring a melodic statement interrupted by accented percussive statements. A pensive and lush moment builds with strong percussion contribution to a bold and satisfying conclusion. Skillfully arranged by Roland Barrett. (4:45)

An Irish Ayre for Winds - By Warren Barker

Lush harmonizations and mellifluous melodies characterize this gorgeous Irish ballad-style piece by Warren Barker. The warm introduction gives way to the first statement of the lilting melody by a solo clarinet. After adding the rest of the clarinet section, the trumpets take over the theme, leading to a soaring statement by the entire ensemble. Eventually, the stirring theme modulates and unfolds into an expansive climax. This lyrical showcase will make a beautiful impression on your band as well as your audience!
