The title of this suite refers to the headdress (the "glen") worn by the cadets of the Lorne Scots Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps and the "galley" is the Galley of Lorne, which is displayed on the coat of arms for the Dukes of Argyll. This piece by Ryan Meeboer is set in three contrasting sections, each with a Scottish feel: "The Sapling Grows," "Colonel Parker," and "For Our Heritage."

The lyrical middle section features a rain effect generated by the audience---very effective!

Great for music camps, contest use or any band room that has non-standard instrumentation. represents the concepts of movement, quickness, light, and shadow. A clever (and slightly shifting) syncopated rhythmic pulse propels the piece, which is juxtaposed with the melodic material, which is played by a variety of players from Part 1 right down to Part 5. Colorful percussion (which is optional) and great use of dynamic contrast make this an excellent choice for concert or contest use.
