'Fanfare for a Friend' was originally composed as an introductory piece for the brass ensemble Musica Mosana and their conductor Mark Prils. The work begins with a brilliant brass fanfare that presents the main theme for the first time. This stately theme can be heard in counterpoints throughout the first 28 bars. This is followed by a contrasting and rapid part whereby a melodic theme can be heard against a more rhythmic accompaniment. A virtuoso and sweeping passage then leads to the grandioso in which both themes are played simultaneously in a grand finale.

Fanfare Und Entrata - Franz R. Miller
This is a ceremonious, sonorous work for wind band with four solo fanfares (valve fanfares) or solo trumpets. The accompanying part can also be reduced and played by a brass ensemble. It is easy to play and so particular suitable for mass music-making at large events. Franz R Miller who was a pupil of Carl Orff's among others, used to be an editor for Bayerische Rundfunk [Bavarian Radio]. He is in particular highly regarded as an expert in choral music.

A rapid flourish in 12/8 time opens composer Otto M. Schwarz' first Concerto for trumpet Trumpet Town, written in October 2009. The metric changes that follow affect the pulse rhythmically and melodically, in exciting and unexpected ways. The solo trumpet's displays of technical prowess and bravura alternate with the film-score-like tutti sections of the brass ensemble. The slow, almost elegiac, central section can be performed on the flugelhorn, while the closing reprise demands that both the soloist and the orchestra give of their best as the piece comes to an exciting, colourful, and uplifting finale. Intrada: Adoration and Praise - Claude T. Smith
This work is an impressive set of variations on the hymn tune "Praise to the Lord, The Almighty." The opening majestic statement is followed by challenging variations. Extra flair can be added with an optional antiphonal brass ensemble amid the dramatic conclusion. An impressive finale for concerts and ceremonies. Jan Van der Roost was commissioned to write this hymn by the "International Association for Human Rights" in Frankfurt. The commission specified that the instrumentation of this simple hymn should be so, that it can be performed by a variety of combinations of players. The piece starts with an "intrada" for brass ensemble based on the first bars of the hymn, but is "ad libitum" and can therefore be omitted. The coda can also be left out, depending on the available instrumentation. The piece should be played "legato" to accentuate its hymn-like character.

In 2009, one year after its formation, the Swiss brass ensemble Azimuts Brass commissioned its conductor, Marc Jeanbourquin, to write them a signature tune. He composed Jazzimut, which features a festive introduction followed by a lyrical theme. After a few bars of rock rhythm, Jazzimut goes disco and finishes with a recapitulation of the introduction as a fanfare.
