£72.99Blue and Green Music - Samuel R. Hazo
The stunning artwork of Georgia O'Keeffe is no more apparent than in her famous 1921 painting entitled Blue and Green Music. Fittingly commissioned by the Patrick Marsh Middle School in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin (O'Keeffe'sbirthplace), Samuel Hazo does an amazing job of portraying subtle as well as bold colors into musical terms. Based on a single theme that is manipulated and varied throughout, the piece progresses from delicate mallet percussioneffects up to climactic impact points for the entire ensemble. O'Keeffe explained her idea that music could be translated into something for the eye. And Mr. Hazo succeeds wonderfully in translating it back into something for theear! Dur: 4:45

£90.30A Christmas Dance Party - M. Carros
Michel Carros wrote a fine swinging arrangement of some famous Christmas Songs. In fact he presents some Christmas evergreens in different dance rhythms. The party starts with the German carol O Tannenbaum and the American evergreen Jingle Bells both played in a swinging foxtrot tempo. Jingle Bells is subsequently performed in a genuine Dixieland style, before the foxtrot rhythm comes back. Next comes the German Christmas song O du frhliche and to conclude, still in swinging foxtrot tempo, we hear the celebrated French carol Il est n le divin enfant (Gloria in Excelsis).

This is the first great hit (and the last as well) of Mink De Ville. This group was lead by singer and lyricist Willy De Ville. He started a solo career about 1990 with the guitar player of the group Dire Straits. Demasiado Corazon is a Spanish Fandango published in 1983. A large part of this arrangement is reserved for various soloists. You will find several proposals to bring these solos at the back page of this score.

£149.40I Byen Samarkand - Nordstoga
Odd Nordstoga is an award winning Norwegian artist who has been active since the 1990's, working in the popular-/folk music genre. I have listened to a lot of Odd Nordstogas music, in particular the Heim te mor-album. When preparing for Asky Brass Band's participation at Siddis Brass in 2008, I came across I byen Samarkand, another of Nordstogas tunes. This was from the Pilegrim album. I thought it had an exciting mix of expressions and included it in the band's repertoire for the Siddis Brass competiton. Pilegrim was initially a commision by the Bergen International Festival back in 2005, based on lyrics by author Ragnar Hovland and Odd Nordstoga's music. -Svein H. Giske -

East Coast Pictures - Nigel Hess
East Coast Pictures was commissioned by the British Youth Wind Orchestra with funds from the National Westminster Bank plc. These three short 'pictures' were inspired by several visits to a small part of the American East Coast, an area that provides great extremes in the geography and the people. Movement 1: Shelter Island is a small island situated near the end of Long Island, a few hours drive east of New York. In the summer it becomes a crowded tourist trap; but in the winter it is gloriously deserted and bravely faces the onslaught of the turbulent Atlantic, shrouded in sea mists and driving rain. This 'picture' is a fond memory of a winter weekend on Shelter Island. Movement 2: In upstate New York lie the Catskills Mountains--an extraordinary combination of tranquillity and power, peace and majesty. Once seen, they call you back again and again. Movement 3: New York - or to be more precise, Manhattan. For anyone who is familiar with this bizarre and wonderful city, here is a 'picture' that needs no explanation. For those not yet hooked this is a foretaste of things to come!

Just As You Are - Score and Parts - Rob Wiffin
Just As You Are is a laid back, almost smoky, number where the relaxed tempo and bluesy notation is prevalent. The piece is structured in ABA form that offers the listener a sense of familiarity when the opening theme returns. This is a contrasting item that leans on the saxophone section to provide a beautifully calm, unhurried feel.
