Applause! (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sakai, Takamasa

This piece was inspired by a variety of music such as Broadway musicals, French cancan, and circus marches. A special rhythm pattern called "Ipponjime" (or "Sanbonjime") is played by the percussion (3 + 3 + 3 + 1) in the first four measures. This is how people freely clap their hands when ceremonies or parties end in Japan. This custom of clapping hands reflects Japanese people's spirit to readily move on to the next step. As the infectious work comes to its exciting conclusion every player shouts "yeah!" ensuring you will definitely hear rapturous applause!Duration: 2:15

Morning Song (Horn Quartet with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sparke, Philip

Morning Song features the horn quartet mostly in a soloistic role - indeed there is an accompanied cadenza towards the end of the piece - but there are moments where the horns assume their conventional concert band role as harmonic support or playing the counter melody. This expressive composition shows all the versatility of the horn quartet and gives them the chance to be in the spotlight.Duration: 7:00

Dreams and Fancies (Concert Band - Score Only) - Brand, Michael

The story of a sleepless night, "Dreams and Fancies" uses musical episodes to depict definite pictures: the three accented pulses of the main theme signifying a kind of fate, a demented waltz which breaks down, a love theme in the middle, then a wild jazz party. The end is a huge climax - a grand ceremony in which the lovers marry, but haunted by the three accented pulses of the first theme, representing a dark fate.

Infernal Ride (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Hesketh, Kenneth

Infernal Ride is mercurial and virtuosic, reflecting the mad-cap chase of Ichabod Crane's final ride on his horse, Gunpowder, in the story by Washington Irving, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Often an atmosphere of driven fear pushes the music forward, only briefly stopping for breath. The work closes with flourishes in rapid succession, perhaps with the hapless Ichabod meeting his unfortunate end. Duration: 7.00

Welcome to the World - Sven Van Calster

This piece was written for two sons of the composer as a welcome to young and innocent lives in to this big world. The concept and instrumentation of the composition allows any young band to play this piece. The optional celesta (keyboard) is a refreshing addition, evoking the sound of an ancient music box, and has a meaningful part as the music box fades out at the end of the piece.

Of Heroes And Demons - Rob Romeyn

An epic programmatic work that captures the fight between good and evil. The work opens with a heroic fanfare that commands attention. From here the music subsides into a beautifully lyric chorale section. Our musical story begins to unfold as the "demons" theme is introduced. The theme is developed and expanded, creating a feeling of unresolved conflict, ultimately leading to a thunderous conclusion. From here, the heroic theme returns, stronger and more developed this time as our battle between good and evil comes to its conclusion, but not before a brief final battle creating a dramatic end to the piece that will have your audiences on their feet. Destined to be a classic for concert and festival use, cross cueing is used to insure success in most performance settings. Don't miss this exceptional addition to the concert band repertoire.
