For SSA choir and orchestra or concert band, or choir and piano.A non-stop medley of tunes from World War One from recruiting through to the Last Post. This arrangement can be performed by a choir with either an orchestra, band or piano accompaniment. There are different choral versions available for Mixed Voice Choir - both SATB (GM131) and, for those with a shortage of male voices, SA+Men (GM134) - for Upper Voice Choir (SSA - GM132) and for Male Voice Choir (TTBB - GM133). The orchestra score and parts (GMCP020) can be used either on its own or to accompany a choir.The recruiting song "Your King and Country Want You" starts us off followed by "Goodbye, Dolly Gray" as the soldiers leave for war. "Belgium put the Kibosh on the Kaiser" is followed by some proper trench songs - various lyrics were improvised by the soldiers!! - "Three German Officers crossed the Rhine" and "They were only playing Leap-Frog". "The Bells of Hell go Ting-a-ling-a-ling" leads to strains of "Stille Nacht" recalling the Christmas truce. "When this Lousy War is Over" and "There's no place like Home" are balanced by "Land of Hope and Glory" before the Americans arrive with "The Caissons go Rolling Along" and "Over There". "It's a Long Way to Tipperary" brings us towards a rousing finish save for an optional "Last Post-lude" to end reflectively.

The tuneful Renaissance art song tells a light-hearted story of gossip and rumor, with lyrics roughly translating to "I will tell you!" The story centers around a jealous husband suspicious of his beautiful wife. Like opera, the piece employs dramatic and whimsical characteristics to tell a passionate story. This arrangement alternates between tutti statements and short interludes to feature each instrument family in the band---woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Series: New Sounds in Brass (NSB); Duration: approx.8'50"; Composed by Joe Hisaishi; Arranged by Takashi Hoshide. Arranger Takashi Hoshide says, "I have selected beautiful melodies from the soundtrack of 'Princess Mononoke' (1997, directed by Hayao Miyazaki) and arranged them into a medley. What can be said about these songs as a whole is that they combine a grand continental scale with the delicacy that reflects Japanese emotions. Since there are no upbeat songs in this selection, I had to work hard on the arrangement, but this allowed for creating contrasts and transitions between each scene in the performance. 'Ashitaka Sekki (English title: The Legend of Ashitaka)' - 'Sekki' means a story that is not recorded but passed down orally. In this anime, this can be considered a sub-main theme. The song starts with a feeling that the story is about to begin and, once the theme kicks in, aim for a grand performance to convey its scale. 'Encounter' - This is the music that plays during the scene where the protagonist Ashitaka meets San. Interestingly, the motif of the main theme 'Princess Mononoke' is used in this melody. Here, let's pursue the shifts in the timbre of individual phrases, creating a beautiful and aesthetic soundscape. 'Princess Mononoke' - This is the main title of the anime. The melody line is carried by horns and trumpets."

Walking the Dog - George Gershwin
Walking the Dog is one of the many songs George Gershwin wrote for the film "Shall We Dance." George Gershwin at the height of his powers. Instead of the bustling, complex symphonic scores he was now accustomed to writing, it is a simple, elegant little walk, as the title suggests.In the 1937 film, it accompanies a scene of (you guessed it) walking a little dog, aboard the luxurious deck of a cruise ship. Since it was heard in the film, however, the tune has taken on a life of its own and has become a popular piece for clarinetists around the world. In 1960, the song was published as "Promenade." Interestingly, it is also the only part of the film score of "Shall We Dance" that remains - the rest of the film's music unfortunately remains unpublished there are not even any recordings.

The crossing of a mountain pass is called traversada in Romansh. Such a crossing bears uncertainties and dangers, but also hope and new opportunities. Whoever sets out for a traversada is leaving behind what's familiar in the quest for new places and people. The piece Traversada, based on a Romansh song about farewell and uncertain reunion, musically depics such a journey. At the offset, off-stage soloists introduce fragments of the melody after which a dramatic narrative unfolds. An intense musical shift leads to a calm section, featuring the original melody in pulsating, muted sound colours. Towards the end, the whole structure is gradually rebuilt andleads to an exuberant ending, where the vibrant melodic motifs reemerge.

A brief history: Pentecost Monday was a special day for schools in Yorkshire (England). There were a variety of activities. The pupils of Sabine Baring-Gould would meet with the children of a nearby village. It seemed like a good idea that during the walk would be sung. But she could not find a suitable song and decided to write one by herself. "Onward Christian Soldiers" was the result. It soon became very popular, though she herself was not entirely satisfied with the rhyme scheme. The melody used (St. Gertrude) was by the famous English composer Sir Arthur S. Sullivan. Back to now: Gawan Roberts, has given the hymn a proper update. He gave the still popularsong a solid rock beat and added daring harmonies. So it's popular, for current generations, again for years. Onward!
