Cardigan Bay (Fantasy on Aberystwyth) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - De Haan, Jacob

This composition is based on the hymn Aberystwyth, named after a seaside town on the west coast of Wales. It is Jacob de Haan's favourite hymn from the 120 Hymns for Brass Band. The work consists of three continuous movements in which the theme of Aberystwyth comes forward in a variety of attractive ways, so that it forms a variegated whole which is captivating to players and listeners alike. Milonga del Angel (Clarinet, Soprano Saxophone and Trombone Trio with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Piazzolla, Astor - Olsrud, Sverre Stakston

This arrangement was made after hearing Astor Piazzolla s 1986 recording of his own work written in 1965. The original instrumentation of bandoneon, violin and string bass is here arranged for three wind soloists with Concert Band. The Soprano Sax is the main soloist (filling the bandoneon role), while the trombone and clarinet shares the violin part as a kind of flirting undertone to the soprano saxophone. It s not possible to make a 100% correct notation of the solo parts, so it s recommended to listen to the record album Zero Hour from 1986 to get the best impression of the work. Enjoy Milonga Del Angel and imagine a small, dark cafe in Buenos Aires!

Shine Bright (Flexible Ensemble - Score and Parts) - Roszell, Patrick

This version of Shine Bright by Patrick Roszell is designed with maximum flexibility for use by any mix of instruments: wind, strings, and percussion, including like or mixed-ensembles with as few as 5 players. The suggested instrumentation and a customisable Teacher Map will help you plan out how to best assign parts to suit your ensemble's needs. It also comes with supplemental parts for maximum flexibility. With the purchase of this piece, permission is granted to photocopy the parts as needed for your ensemble. A percussion accompaniment track is also available as a free download. String parts have been carefully edited with extra fingerings and appropriate bowings to support students in mixed ensembles playing in less familiar keys. This musical upbeat celebration of life was inspired in part by the John Steinbeck quote in The Winter of Our Discontent, "It's so much darker when a light goes out than it would have been if it had never shone." Beyond the brief introduction with flute solo, the piece is persistently bright and charismatic. Shine Bright by Patrick Roszell can be used at any event, including graduations, concerts, or contests throughout the year. Duration: 3.15

La Chica Sin Nombre (Trombone Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob

A vibrant, rhythmic solo for trombone and band. La Chica sin Nombre was written in March 2020 at the request of Brett Baker. He wanted something in Latin style so I chose to go for a Mambo-type dance piece. This obviously works best with band accompaniment where I would always ask for Conga drums and Mambo Bell/Timbales rather than drum kit. The piece needs to be played with an appropriate feel for Latin music. It should sound light and easy to play but has a few tricky moments! Duration: 4.15

This cinematic piece is full of sound effects, great brass sequences, solid percussion and virtuosic winds. An ideal piece for a thematic concert, or a challenging choice for a contest.Duration: 11.00

The Spell (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Waespi, Oliver

The Spell is a musical interpretation of an old legend from the Alpstein, a mystical mountain area in the east of Switzerland. According to the tale, a shepherd boy, Hennes, cared for his animals on the alpine pastures, but many of the animals fell ill with a terrible plague and died. The mountain spirit appeared to Hennes out of the mists of Santis and so the story unfolds... The music of The Spell follows the narrative of this legend, in which musical motifs are assigned to the essential elements of the story, a technique seen in late romantic repertoire by composers such as Wagner or Richard Strauss.Duration: 13.00

Barnum and Bailey's Fractured Favorite (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - King, Karl L. - Leslie, Thomas G.

When Karl King was conducting circus bands he would frequently edit his marches so the same composition could be used for contrasting acts (for example a lion act one time, and a trapeze act the next). In the same spirit, Thomas Leslie has creatively repurposed this familiar march to suit an imaginary clown act; complete with novelty percussion sounds and a few surprises sprinkled in. A bit outrageous, but definitely fun!Duration: 2:30

Our American Heroes (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Swearingen, James

The inspiration that motivates composers to create music often originates from a multitude of different sources. Numerous band director friends have suggested the creation of a patriotic selection that honors military personnel, both past and present. They also requested that lyrics be included so as to allow their choir colleagues to join in creating a spectacular grand finale. I sincerely hope that your audiences, both young and old, will enjoy this musical salute to America's lasting heroes. A real crowd-pleaser! Duration: 1.30
