Eagle Spirit March - Mike Hannickel
This one is just right for the "encore march" at your next young band concert, or anywhere a bright march is appropriate. Intuition is a march for the youngest of students that uses only the first six notes of the Bb scale and the most difficult rhythm is two repeated eighth-notes. Even with limited technical demands, you won't believe how much this sounds like a more involved march. It has all of the hallmarks of an American march in form with three strains with different melodic material. The only difference is there is no modulation at the trio. It is a perfect vehicle to introduce this important form to beginning students, and its exceptionally tuneful as well!

Ever Forward, Ever Onward is a wonderful piece written in concert B-flat and only uses notes within the scale. The clarinets do not go over the break. "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" is one of the greatest hits by US rock band Chicago. It was the first single record from the "Chicago 16"-album (1982). The song went to no. 1 on the Billboard charts and stayed there for two weeks. Produced by David Foster, the song was given a typical early 80's sound with synthesizers and heavy guitars dominating the sound. The album-version of the song included a part two of the song, "Get Away", a up-tempo song featuring the famous horn-section of the band.

Centrifuge was written for the 2015 Southeastern Louisiana Middle School Band Camp and its director, Paul Frechou. This piece portrays the a centrifuge vigorously spinning with no sign of slowing down or stopping. An allegro tempo is used to fuel the drive and impetus throughout this energetic musical depiction of a whirling perpetual motion dynamo. The opening theme is first presented by clarinets playing in their lowest register as the machine starts up and begins to build up speed. Underlying the entire work is a pulsating percussion section which provides the thrust and forward motion along with various syncopated rhythms contributed by the winds.
