Written for the Kuching Wind Symphony in Malaysia, Fanfare and Homage is a tribute to the work of music educators around the globe. The dynamic opening fanfare section features bold brass statements, short percussion break and a lyric solo for trumpet. Salentin is Gauthier Dupertuis' tribute to the Valais, the Swiss Canton where he was born. Salentin is a mountain from which there is a spectacular view of Vernayaz, the composer's village of origin.This piece is structured in such a way that all registers of the band are highlighted. It is suitable for performance in parade, but also as a concert march.Salentin is dedicated to the Concert Band of Martigny (Valais/Switzerland) and its conductor, Dany Rossier, who premiered Salentin during a concert on 3rd December, 2023.

£252.10The Cosmographic Mystery - Ingebjørg Vilhelmsen
"The Cosmographic Mystery" outlines the great mysteries and secrets of the universe. The musical foundation is a tribute to composer Gustav Holst, and his suite "The Planets". Each movement from the suite is quoted in the course of the piece. The title is taken from a book by the German astronomer Johannes Kepler, which was published in the 17th century. The book explains Kepler's cosmological theory that the distance relationship between the planets could be understood in light of the five Platonic solids. The theory proposes that the solids dictate the structure of the universe through geometry. "The Cosmographic Mystery" is supported by the Norwegian Composers' Fund, and was commissioned by Oslofjord brass.

A Cool Six' is a small tribute to Miles Davis and Dave Brubeck. Two giants who renewed jazz just after the Second World War. Miles Davis with his modal 'cool' jazz and Dave Brubeck with his unusual timing. 'A Cool Six' combines concepts of both gentlemen. A simple melody alternated in E-dorian and E-minor in a 6/4 beat time, however, including all characteristics of Big Band Swing Music. The title of this piece refers to the albums 'Birth of the Cool' from Davis (1957) and 'Time Out' from Brubeck (1959)Both albums inspired Mark Hendriks to write this mesmerizing piece for Concert Band nd Big Band!
