Published for the first time in 1984 as a part of their record album "Knights of the New Thunder"TNT collaborated with the Royal Norwegian Navy Band in 2007. Someone, whether Santa himself or the elves in his employ, has to keep them fed, warm, and happy if they are to do the impossible again in a year's time. Old St. Nicholas Had a Farm has some fun with this idea by mashing up the classic song Old MacDonald with popular Christmas Carols. Using only the first six notes of the Bb scale and only two repeated eighth notes as the most challenging rhythm, students will feel comfortable playing the sound of sleigh bells, the crack of Santa's whip, and the thunder of reindeer hoofs. This piece will make a perfect addition to your next holiday concert and audienceswill delight in participating.

Grandmother Song is an introduction to the Mohican tradition of sung syllables, or what Native Americans call vocables. Combining them with traditional wood flute songs, composer Brent Michael Davids offers a fresh look at the sound of Native American songs. Band instruments are performed less as musical instruments and more as talking sticks, singing reeds, rustling winds and shooting thunder. Through this beautiful ballad, students are given the materials to understand how Native Americans celebrate the world around them through the blending of words and song. (Includes score and parts.) The series was started as a response to feedback from music educators that there is a pressing need for new, fresh band music.
