£42.50Encore! - Goto Yo
Encore! was commissioned by Ishikawa Prefecture Band Association to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2010. The commissioning request was that the piece be fun and appropriate as an encore. I made it simple and enjoyable for everyone.The only thing I added was an appealing introduction so each entering section might feel the importance of their instrument. That's why there is a specified appearance order involving standing. It goes from 1) clarinets, 2) piccolo, flute, horn, oboe and bassoon, 3) percussion, 4) euphonium, tuba and double bass, 5) trombone, 6) saxophone to 7) trumpet. Lastly, all sections stand up together and greet the audience. Technically, it's a medium grade level. There are substitutions for bands lacking oboe, bassoon or double bass.The title was selecting hoping for a fun, grand finale. It also means "more" and "again." My hope is for performers and audience to enjoy music, and for Ishikawa Prefecture Band Association to nourish its band movements and activities. I could not ask for more if people come to love music even more by experiencing this work.(Yo Goto)

Princess Mononoke Fantasy Scenes - Joe Hisaishi
Princess Mononoke (1997) is recognized for its outstanding soundtrack. The CD "Princess Mononoke" recorded by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra after the film's release is also widely known. The CD arrangement follows the soundtrack and adds detailed scenes from the film with some development.Consider this arrangement a sequel to my previous "Selections from Princess Mononoke" as I have utilized additional songs from the soundtrack.By commission request from Mr. Shindo, director of the Girls Junior & Senior High School band club of Seitoku University, I arranged "San and Ashitaka in the Forest of the Deer" and "World of the Dead." The original features piano solo, which is very appealing. I made it optional which can be played by other instruments if needed. Referred to as the poet of the piano, Chopin (1810-1949) is known for his gorgeous melodies so beloved for the past 200 years. The French-derived title, "Chopin, Always with You" depicts this sense of endearment for his music. This composition was first introduced in the 2010 Band Journal (a popular Japanese wind band magazine) commemorating the composer's bicentennial. Since Chopin's melodies are not often translated to the wind band medium, it is my hope that many will enjoy his splendid musical gifts.

Weather Report - Shin'ya Takahashi
Weather Report was commissioned by Marunouchi Junior High School in Nagano in 2010 and premiered at the Nagano State Band Contest.One of my new thoughts for composition has been to ask students for titles, images and ideas. For this commission I collected many interesting concepts, and quite a few had to do with weather. So, I constructed the piece based on weather news and report. After the main weather news presentation, the meteorologist presents the daily weather forecast:"The morning will be clear and beautiful becoming cloudy at noon and eventually shower later. Rain intensity will increase turning into a thunderstorm. Towards the evening, rain and storm will leave, and there will be a beautiful sunset. That's the weather for today."(Shin'ya Takahashi)

Commissioned by Japan's Central Air Self Defense Force BandWhen I received this commission, I thought of a regular piece for wind band, but as my preparations continued I heard so much about the band's outstanding trumpeter Kenichi Kurisu that I ended up writing a concerto for him. The Self Defense Force audience includes those without much chance to otherwise hear live music. With that in mind I realized I also had the challenge of creating a melody that was compelling.Using the classical sonata as a model I made this song with simple movements and included a signature chorus in the middle section. Although this piece is performed with band, a version for piano accompaniment was created by pianist Orimo Manabu for the 20th Anniversary of "The Trumpet Concert."This edition of Trumpet Concerto was offered for an American Premier at the 2013 Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic, Robert Sullivan soloist with the Kagoshima Joho High School Wind Orchestra.(Satoshi Yagisawa)

Promised Land - Sean O'Loughlin
Promised Land is a serious-sounding, new piece for the developing band that sounds much more difficult than it plays, allowing your students to show off while remaining at their ability level. The title has its roots in the ideals of John Humphrey Noyes, who founded the Oneida community in the late 1840s. He built a thriving agricultural and spiritual community that became his promised land. The music depicts the struggles and triumph of those first settlers in the area, who worked the land and fought for their ideals through much persecution. Promised Land contains all of the rhythmic interest and memorable motives that Sean's music is so known for. It is also an excellentchoice for contest/festival.

£123.95Symphonic Overture - Charles Carter
Symphonic Overture is a contemporary-sounding overture of medium difficulty so scored that it can be performed with equal success by large and small groups alike. Employing the familiar three-part form (A-B-A), the opening section has a theme which is robust in character and with considerable rhythmic interest. The second theme, slow and expressive in character is a free form based on an opening idea introduced by the first flute. At the return of the first section, the first theme is treated as a fugue subject building to great heights as all four entrances are achieved. As the exposition concludes, the contrapuntal texture gives way to a homophonic quality which closes the piece.The coda, as is characteristic, utilizes material from the first theme.
