The Ocean Beast (CB) - Pimpanit Karoonyavanich
If we hear about a beast, we would imagine a powerful and fierce creature. This composition work depicts a beast who's cursed to live under the ocean. Because everyone thinks that he's a heartless and evil beast, they run away from him every time they see him. Sometimes he appears at the surface of the sea and hope that he would be able to make friends with human. But all he got were severe wounds those made by the sailors who thought that he wanted to attack them. Nobody knows... that all he wants, is just only someone who just treat him like the others, not a beast.

Les oiseaux dans la charmille (CB) - Jacques Offenbach - Bert Van Thienen
One of the most difficult coloratura arias in the entire operatic repertoire, "Les oiseaux dans la charmille" comes from Offenbach's 'Les contes d'Hoffmann'. The piece is also known as 'The Doll Song' since the character who performs it, Olympia, is a mechanical doll. In the opera, Hoffman recounts how he was charmed by the automaton, co-created by Spalanzani and Copplius. Though anyone could plainly see that Olympia was a machine, Copplius sold Hoffman a pair of magical glasses that tricked him into thinking Olympia was a real woman.

£85.00Mammoth Mountain Suite (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Esplo, Haakon
Suite in Three Movements. Mammoths were a family of elephants that, with one exception, died out at the end of the last ice age. Their closest living relative is the Asian elephant. In many places in the world one can find mammoth remains. In Norway (especially in Gudbrandsdalen), 20 discoveries of teeth and skeletal remains have been made after mammoths that lived here between 40,000 and 50,000 years ago. On cave paintings and carvings you can see many pictures of mammoths with other animals. Pictures of killed mammoths have also been found with humans. Mammoth Moutain Suite describes a bunch of hunters looking for mammoths. Imagine the majestic animals, what it felt like to see the herd in the mountains and what it sounded like when the 6 ton heavy and 3.5 meter tall mammoths were on the run. Duration: 7.30

Henry Mancini's most famous composition (which concerned a cat of the pink variety) provides the inspiration for the 2nd movement, 2) Catwalk before saxophone legend Sonny Rollins's jazz standard Airegin is given a contrafact treatment in 3) Scat! allowing a number of instrumental soloists to shine. NB: The suite can be extended by including the trombone solo Catnap (see above) and the Toccata (see below), available separately
