Kinetic Energy - Larry Clark
Kinetic energy is defined as the energy of constant motion. Larry Clark represents this idea with a near constant 8th-note pulse throughout his supercharged piece. Though the piece ends in B flat major, the main idea is in the Lydian mode on E flat. Kinetic Energy is Clark at his most incisive and the scoring is apt and colorful.

Revolution (Scherzo for Band) - Erik Morales
Be immersed in a sea of swirling colors with this bold and exciting new scherzo for band. The furious 3-beat pulse evokes images of spiraling colors and dark, passionate, and intense moods. Animated rhythms give way to a poignant hymn introduced and concluded by a piccolo solo in a contrasting lyrical section. Spiraling once again into a juxtaposition of themes, the work combines excellent percussion writing, soaring melodies, and great counterpoint to drive the piece to a furious and spectacular finish! £279.99Analecta Varia - Harrie Janssen
Harrie Janssen composed Analecta Varia in memory of Henk van Lijnschooten (1928-2006). He has been of great influence on the Dutch music for wind instruments. As a conductor and as a member of the jury, but above all as a prominent composer. Consists of eight sound studies that can also be performed separately. In each part a particular orchestral aspect is the central point. The eight parts 1. Choral: ensemble in monophonic texture. 2. Air: relatively free line patterns combined with a constant pulse. 3. Pavana: constant rhythmicity culminating in an orchestral tutti. 4. Lullaby: dissonant harmonyabove an organ point in a filigree instrumentation. 5. Chaconne: color and virtuosity combined with a rigid pasacaglian theme. 6. Interlude: antithesis woodwind/brass and followed by a synthesis of the before. 7. Fugue: ensemble in a polyphonic texture. 8. Epilogue: final canto in a preponderating strong dynamic, where a constant euphony has to be pursued.

£149.40Joyful Life - Jerker Johansson
When Jerker Johansson in the 80's started to compose he was for a while obsessed with writing music in odd time signatures, more specifically 7/8. He was asked during the fall of 2020 by Leif Karlsson (former member of the legendary percussion ensemble Kroumata and nowadays conductor) to write something challenging for Uppsala Blsarsymfoniker and this resulted in Joyful Life. The piece is, to say the least, difficult to tap the pulse along to and is something of a baptism of fire for the musicians, regarding rhythmic precision. Joyful Life is dedicated to the always likeable Leif Karlsson (Joyful Leif!) and was premiered on the 15th November 2020 by The Swedish Air Force Band under the baton of the composer.

Downshifting - Dan Welcher
Commissioned by a consortium of 20 high school and university bands coordinated by Scott Hanna of the University of Texas at Austin, Downshifting is inspired by Welcher's joy of bicycle riding. Welcher explains in the program note: When I decided to write a piece for band that was basically entertaining and uplifting, it made perfect sense to call it Downshifting... With three gears on the front sprocket and seven on the rear, it's possible to keep one's legs going at a constant speed (for me, q = 126) while the bike itself may be moving very slowly or very quickly. I determined to capitalize on this in writing Downshifting, which keeps the same mathematical inner pulse,'shifting' (with a ratchet) as the terrain changes.

£82.50Stealth Mission - Mark Lortz
Commissioned by the 2004 Harford All-County Middle School Band, Maryland. A strong sense of suspense is established at the very outset, permeating the musical fabric throughout the entire piece to create a very effective, attention-grabbing concert opener. An unsettled and relentless rhythmic pulse drives the work forward, provided at various times by woodwinds, brass, and percussion, keeping the listener on edge until they all come together for the intense and emphatic finish.

£82.50Conquest - Mark Lortz
This programmatic composition depicts a dark and intense journey to conquer an enemy force. A mysterious introduction exudes an ominous tone as the dampened pulse of the bass drum creates the timbre of a resolute heartbeat as opposing forces gather, then collide. Intense brass statements, brisk woodwind ostinatos, and running lines combine with unrelenting percussive parts to depict a fierce battle scene. The action then subsides into a triumphant flourish that ends the piece with the assertive and uncompromising sounds of victory.
