This selection made a choice from the thrilling and expressive sound tracks John Williams wrote for thethree movie pictures dealing with the adventures of the archeologist Doctor Jones (Harrison Ford). It startswith the popular 'Raiders' March' which runs as a thread throughout the whole selection. The listener isimmediately brought to the subterranean vaults from the film 'The Temple of Doom'. In 'Slave Children'sCrusade' we hear the children toiling in the mines of Pangkot-Palace. The 'Short Round's Theme' (ShortRound is the name of the boywho saves Indiana Jones several times) is followed by the quieter 'Love Theme'from the first film 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'.The choral and the cor anglais (alto saxophone) solo at the endwere borrowed fromthe third film 'Indiana Jones and the last Crusade'.

The popular and excentric British singer, pianist and composer Elton John (1947) reached the international hitparades with such songs as 'Crocodile Rock' and 'Candle in the Wind'. It was a stroke of genius of the Walt Disney Studios to invite him to write the soundtrack for their latest full length cartoon 'The Lion King' (June 1994). Its success rapidly surpassed that of 'Aladdin' and even that of 'Beauty and the Beast'. Its credit titles mention over 600 names! The adventures of King Muphasa and Crown Prince Simba are wonderfully backed by Elton John's songs 'Circle of Life', 'I just can't wait to be King' and 'Can you feel the Love'. Hans van der Heide signed this extremely well sounding wind band arrangement.

The American composer Milton Ager (Chicago 1893 - Los Angeles 1979) wrote several songs that became evergreens, such as 'Ain't she sweet' and 'Happy Days are here again'. The latter became extremely popular when is was chosen as official song for the presidential campaign of Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1932. Since then it has been used by many a politician. Hastreiter made a fine arrangement for symphonic band of this pleasant tune that invites you to sing along.

Gloria Estefan is a most successful latin singer of Cuban origin. She scored an impressive series of hits with the group 'Miami Sound Machine' in the eighties and nineties. Songs such as 'Dr.Beat' and 'Conga' became great successes in Europe. In 1993 a new successful record in Spanish 'Mi Tierra', with a.o. some typical salsa tunes, was released. Peter Kleine Schaars arranged several of the singer's most popular tunes into a fine and pleasant medley.

This piece features music from the 1978 film Grease, the songs Greased Lightening, Rock 'n' Roll is Here to Stay, Hopelessly Devoted to You and We Go Together, have been tastefully arranged in a beautiful medley. The original arrangement for fanfare orchestra by Emile Stoffels, has, due to popular demand, been expertly reworked for harmony orchestra by Henk Ummels. It's almost impossible to sit still, listening to this timeless music.
