Los Colores de Fiesta was commissioned by the Pride of San Antonio Show Band to celebrate the year-long 300th Anniversary Fiesta of the city in 2018. As a former member of the South San Antonio and John Jay High School Bands, and later with the 5th Army Band, composer Charles Booker marched in the Fiesta Flambeau Parade, America's largest illuminated night parade and the highlight of Fiesta. This rhapsodic work celebrates the exciting atmosphere of Fiesta, as well as the rich and diverse cultures it represents.

Castellum - Jan Van der Roost
This work, in two movements, was written for the 50th anniversary of "Harmonie St. Cecilia" in Oudenburg, Belgium, and is dedicated to its conductor, Arne Wyntin.The first part is rather quiet and pastoral in character, and is written in a gently rocking 12/8 time. The tranquility of the area around the medieval town of Oudenburg, a rustic region not far from the North Sea, is expressed in a striking fashion. After a beautiful orchestral climax, the second part begins, which is inspired by the Roman past of Oudenburg. A somewhat oppressive and impending introduction leads to the musical reflection of an army parade: Oudenburg was a so-called "castellum," and the remains ofthe fortress are still visible in the current town plan. A more dynamic passage follows featuring the low brass. After that, the solemn rhythm of the parade is recaptured, culminating in a triumphant ending.

Erik Satie, born in Honfleur in Normandy (France) in 1866 is undoubtedly one of the most striking personalities in the history of French music. He composed in various, often quite divergent, styles. Besides light-hearted,entertaining works he also wrote several serious compositions, among which the three ballets: Parade, Rel che and Les Aventures de Mercure. However, his piano pieces, such as Trois Gymnopdies orGnossiennes will remain his most popular compositions. Satie cooperated with almost all the great artists of his time: Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau, Sergei Diaghilev, Georges Braque and composers Darius Milhaud (Le Groupedes Six) and Claude Debussy. This work was commissioned by Marktmusik Timelkam to celebrate its 170th anniversary. It describes the cultural life and hustle and bustle of the band's home base, the Austrian town of Timelkam. Carnival pictures a festive procession starting at the marketplace and lasting well into the night. The work features many 'carnivalesque' elements and is a joy for players to perform. There is a lot of merry activity going on in the music; people cheerily chatting in the inn; singing and dancing together and having fun. There is also room for a melancholy mood, accompanied by reminiscences about eternal goodbyes and searching for love. With the added musical representation of children's playing and pranks, a beautiful sunrise as well as a depiction of the churches and societies in town, this composition is not just an account of a carnival parade but a small portrayal of life.

The Royal Irish Regiment - Larry Clark
The Royal Irish Regiment is an infantry regiment of the British army. This march was therefore meant to be in the style of a classic British style march. The march is set to emulate the passing by of the regiment as it marches in a parade. It starts with a tuneful fife-sounding melody in the flute or piccolo over the sound of bagpipes. The march then developes featuring all of the sections of the band in this colorful regal type march. Use it as a different type of march at your next contest or festival performance.

Mandalay, the cultural capital of Burma, was very seriously damaged by bombings of the Allied Forces during the Second World War. 'The Road to Mandalay' has been a kind of oriental symbol, which was also used in literature, e.g. by Rudyard Kipling. Robie Williams made a song with the same name and in July 2000 it reached the top of the international hit parade. Afterwards, he used it as part of the soundtrack of his short movie picture 'Rob by Nature'

Karl Komzak Jr. (1850-1905), son of Karl I and father of Karl III was the most famous member of an illustrious family of Austrian military bandmasters. Karel II composed over 300 works among which 65 marches, 81 polkas and 21 waltzes. His waltz 'Badner Madln' is world-famous. Some of his marches, such as '84er Regiments Marsch' and 'Vindobona' are still famous, but the most popular is 'Erzherzog Albrecht' march. It was composed for the 70th birthday of the Austrian Field Marshall Archduke Albert in 1887. It became the parade march of the 9th Dragoon Regiment and the 5th Artillery Regiment in Austria.
