This rousing and patriotic song was written in 1867, the year of Canada's Confederation. It became very popular and, for many years, was the unofficial national anthem of Canada. The piece opens with a snare drum and gradually introduces the theme in the altos and flutes, while the trumpets play bugle calls that are echoed by the clarinets. This introduction could serve as an opportunity for the choir to "march" into position and be ready for the chorus that appears at the key change. This arrangement is part of a collection for young band celebrating Canada's 150th anniversary since joining Confederation.

The Cajun Navy is a large group of volunteer Louisiana boat owners who are well-known because of their heroic rescue efforts after hurricanes and floods. Formed in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina's devastation, the group has not only aided in Louisiana but also in other states, including Texas, North Carolina, and Florida.Michael Story's was written to honor these brave men and women. The piece utilizes original music as well as two Cajun folk songs: "Tout Un Beau Soir En Me Promenant" and "Jolie Blonde," which is considered to be the Cajun national anthem due to its widespread popularity. Norge i rdt, hvitt og bltt ("Norway in Red, White and Blue") was commissioned by the Oslo Fagott Choir (yes, that is indeed a gay men's choir) for a concert with The Staff Band of the Armed Forces in 2015. I was given artistic licence to write a more modern and somewhat 'eclectic' arrangement for this originally Swedish melody written by Lars-Erik Larsson, which became something of a national liberation anthem when Nazi occupation ended in May 1945 - then with new lyrics by Finn B, Bias Bernhoft and Arild Feldborg.After the premiere in Oslo, and a music video with Oslo Fagott Choir and The Staff Band, broadcasted by Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) on Constitution Day during coronavirus lockdown in 2020, I was approached by many to write an instrumental version of the arrangement for concert band.
