Carbine and Lance - McCall
Carbine & Lance is a great concert selection that emulates the compositional techniques of some of America's most prolific march composers. This march is accessible to bands of all levels and its use of both 6/8 and 2/4 present a colorful change in pace moving into the trio. Closing out the march, a careful listener may catch the Star Spangled Banner in the trio and final strain.

Triqui-Traqui - Paul Desenne
Commissioned by Gustavo Dudamel for his 2017 New Year's concert with the Vienna Philharmonic, my Caribbean reinterpretation of Strauss' famous Tritsch-Tratsch Polka was deemed tooosefor the occasion, yet the maestro recorded it that year, not in Vienna but in Caracas, with the fabulous performers of his orchestra, the Orquesta Sinfnica Simn Bolvar, and published it on the web as his musical New Year's greetings card. The gesture was meaningful, and bold. I'm convinced that Johann Strauss, a man immersed in the fashions of his city and his time, would have loved the idea; a musical collage which carries in its banter a very strong aesthetic statement. The lightest and most frivolous things seem to always carry the deepest messages, let us not forget. ... ... Today, this version of my transformed Tritsch- Tratsch Polka forSymphonic Band created by Steve Boehm, will certainly tickle the Viennese in each and every one of us, and we will be very happy!"

Noble Men - Henry Fillmore
Brilliant and invigorating, Noble Men is one of Fillmore's most delightful marches. The 1st strain is witty, and its continuation features a sparkling trumpet fanfare. The trio offers a suave tune as an effective contrast and the fortissimo repeat adds witty commentary from the high woodwinds to bring matters to a typically rousing conclusion. In this authentic edition by Robert Foster, Noble Men will be a delight to perform and enjoy. Duration: 2' 30"

Chisholm Trail - Carl Strommen
Chisholm Trail has a truly American quality, containing hints of music from the mountains, which evoke the rugged terrain and the pioneering spirit that were so important to the growth of this great nation. Carl Strommen is most at home in this style and has great success with it... in fact, this may be his best one yet! It's challenging, but energetic and fun to play. Students will enjoy it and audiences will love to hear it. This is a winner!

Onward-Upward (March) - Edwin Franko Goldman
A delightful example of the Goldman style at its most infectious, this concert edition by Edward Lisk will make this charmer from the early 1930s available for a new generation of performers and listeners. Edwin Franko Goldman (1878-1956), who founded the Goldman band in 1918, was one of the great bandsmen who was inspired by the example of John Philip Sousa in creating the modern marching band repertoire.

Charles Wesley has given the church some of its most popular and eloquent hymns that have shown the ability to stand the test of time. Metalla - Jan van der Roost
Metalla was commissioned by the 'Kreisverband Altenkirchen' of Germany and dedicated to Ottomar Jung. The composer himself conducted the premiere of the piece, which was performed by the 'Jugendorchester Kreisverband Altenkirchen' on 25 March 1999.The region of Altenkirchen is known for its iron mines, which find musical expression in the dark mood of the introduction (andante misterioso). This effect is accomplished with overlapping seventh intervals, orchestral crescendos, a succession of broad chords and the presentation of most themes in the middle register of the band. The dynamic section (allegro energico) that follows the introduction is characterized by concise figures inthe brass and a second motif, a kind of rippling motion depicting the Sieg River, an important element in the landscape of the Altenkirchen region. The work closes with a final theme that returns a number of times, albeit in different guises. After a brief repeat of the seventh intervals from the beginning, a last radiant chord signals the end of the piece.

Lullaby from Four Watercolours - Tor Aulin
Few composers have had such an impact on Swedish music life as Tor Aulin (1866 1914). He studied violin and music theory in Stockholm 1877 83, and in Berlin 1884 86. In 1887 he founded the Aulin Quartet, which for more than 20 years played animportant role in broadening Swedish interest in chamber music. The quartet was often on tour with the composer Wilhelm Stenhammar at the piano.1889 1902 Aulin was the leader of the orchestra at the Royal Opera in Stockholm. At Aulinsinstigation the Concert Association in Stockholm (later The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra) was founded in 1902, and he was its conductor until 1909. From then on he was the conductor of the Gothenburg ConcertAssociation (nowadays The GothenburgSymphony Orchestra).Besides being a first class violinist, Tor Aulin was also an accomplished pianist, and Edvard Grieg was deeply impressed by Aulin's rendering of his piano concerto.Aulins list of works is dominated by his musicfor violin. He wrote three violin concertos, the third of which still has a place in the repertoire.Four Aquarelles for violin and piano from 1899 is his most beloved composition. In 1996 Jerker Johansson arranged this work for soloinstruments, one for each of the four movements, and concert band. The solo instruments being clarinet, trumpet, flute and alto saxophone.

The German engine manufacturer MTU Friedrichshafen, which long has had its own Concert Band, in 2006 became part of Tognum AG, which commissioned Tognum Power in 2009. That both companies produce powerful engines naturally was a heavy influence on a piece for Concert Band, which indeed is a most powerful type of ensemble. The character of the piece is heroic, alternating between lyrical and dramatic sections. Tognum Power was premiered in Friedrichshafen on April 12, 2009, by the MTU Orchestra (MTU-Blserensemble) under Reiner Hobe.

American Overture for Band Op.13 - Joseph Willcox Jenkins
Theodore Presser published this repertoire standard in Critical Edition, marking its 50th anniversary. Unlike most critical editions, however, this one was supervised by the composer himself. The set includes a full score, and corrects and revises dynamics, articulations, and pitches - all exactly as the composer intended. A true "urtext" in every sense of the word.
