This work was commissioned by the All Japan Band Association (Chiba Prefecture) to commemorate their 45th anniversary. The composer, Satoshi Yagisawa, was requested to write a march that was easy enough for junior high school students to play, and was based on the folk songs in Chiba Prefecture. After several months of research the composer finally discovered Boushu Oiwake, a lyrical folk song sung with the Japanese bamboo flute and shamisen (three-stringed Japanese instrument). After the composition process has been completed we have here a fantastic triumphant march sure to ?raise the roof? at any performance.

Dona Nobis Pacem is a three-part round by an unknown composer. It can be performed for many occasions, both in and outside church, often being used at Christmas. By the time of the holy crusades, this melody was incorporated into the Mass Ordinary (the manual of the holy mass). Dona Nobis Pacem is a free fantasia on this round, which itself naturally forms a part of the piece. If desired you can add vocals (solo or choir) to the band to enhance the spiritual feel of this fantastic work.

The Feather Song - Alan Silvestri
This delightful theme is inextricably bound up with the fantastic acting talent of Tom Hanks, who gave a convincing performance of the figure Forrest Gump in the film of the same name. The scene of him sitting on a bench and watching a white feather fluttering down is one of the most poignant moments of the film and this has been expertly captured in this arrangement.

The piece takes as its inspiration the happy and sad masks which symbolise the Commedia dell?Arte (which features Harlequin as one of its main characters) and comprises two movements, a slow modal ballad followed by a frenetic faster movement. A fantastic showpiece for euphonium and band.
