Who did it? - Jacob de Haan
Who did it? is a composition for youth bands with limited instrumentation. While composing it, Jacob de Haan was inspired by a familiar situation: a child caught doing something mischievous such as taking another child's toy, and trying to get away with it. The other children, however, notice this. The fast tempo of this work reflects the chase that follows - this will be fun for all the band members.

The Funny Pumpkins - Harm Evers
Halloween is celebrated in many countries around the world on October 31. Traditionally, children go door-to-door dressed up in costumes and collect sweets and treats. A hollowed out pumpkin with a face carved into it, called a jack-o-lantern, is a traditional symbol of Halloween. Some jack-o-lanterns have scary faces, while others have fun, whimsical faces. The trombones in this piece represent the jack-o-lanterns with their whimsical faces--hence the title The Funny Pumpkins. Your trombone section will have immense fun with this new solo feature.

The Essence of Youth - Stijn Roels
In The Essence of Youth the composer gives an insight into childhood and youth -- inspired by his own daughter. The opening of sparking rhythms, dynamic contrasts and changes of time signature paint a vivid picture of the unpredictability of children. The first and second movements recount the love -- and also tension and the worries -- in the adult-child bond, through dissonant harmonies but also pretty melodies. The fugue-like ending leads to a final splendid chorale: a picture of proud parents with their child!

The Bells of Christmas
"The idea behind this song is to remind everyone, for all those who have forgotten, how colourful and exciting Christmas was during their childhood. Christmas is a magical time and, after all, no matter how old we are, we are all still children at heart." These words were written by Chris de Burgh about his 2009 hit, The Bells of Christmas, inspired by Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Simon Fahnholz has now made an excellent version of this Christmas hit for concert band.

Onward!
A brief history: Pentecost Monday was a special day for schools in Yorkshire (England). There were a variety of activities. The pupils of Sabine Baring-Gould would meet with the children of a nearby village. It seemed like a good idea that during the walk would be sung. But she could not find a suitable song and decided to write one by herself. "Onward Christian Soldiers" was the result. It soon became very popular, though she herself was not entirely satisfied with the rhyme scheme. The melody used (St. Gertrude) was by the famous English composer Sir Arthur S. Sullivan. Back to now: Gawan Roberts, has given the hymn a proper update. He gave the still popularsong a solid rock beat and added daring harmonies. So it's popular, for current generations, again for years. Onward!

Santa's Journey (Bringing "Joy to the World") - Roy W. Kaighin
As Santa starts his journey, bringing "Joy to the World" by delivering presents to children and adults, he sets off on his majestic sleigh driven by his reindeer. A few elves have snuck into the sleigh to help. With a whoosh, he flies across the sky and over the snowy mountains. The music is in continuous motion, just like Santa's sleigh, as he has many presents to deliver before morning. The quiet moments in the music depict Santa's arrival in small villages, away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities, touching the hearts of people everywhere. During his journey, Santa discovers the elves who have apparently lost some of the presents. Santa offers a gentle reprimandbefore the presents are eventually found by Elfie, the youngest Elf. After all the presents have been delivered, Santa heads back home as he calls out, "I'll be back next Christmas!" (4:15)
