£169.99Huckleberry Finn Suite - Franco Cesarini
American author Mark Twain spent seven years writing Huckleberry Finn - the book Hemingway claimed is the basis for all American fiction. The story of Huck's and Jim's quest for freedom on a raft on the Mississippi provides a panoramic view of Southern society, which Twain saw as beset by greed, violence and coldhearted brutality in the guise of virtue. At the end of the book, Huck definitively abandons the hypocrisy and cant on which he has been raised when he makes the shocking decision to go to hell rather than betray his friend Jim and send him back to slavery. This suite portrays all the adventure of this great romantic novel and will delight performers and audiencealike.

£159.99Bulgarian Dances - Franco Cesarini
Bulgarian Dances is a free rhapsody, divided into four distinct movements based on famous Bulgarian folk songs. These songs have a very old tradition and stem from both the antique world of Byzantium and even earlier in the ancient and mysterious civilization of the Thrace region. In the beginning they were monodic songs, then diaphonic, with characteristic dissonances of major and minor seconds which make them unique. What also makes these songs so fascinating are seductive and complex irregular rhythms. The composer, while remaining faithful to the original spirit of the songs, has not hesitated to broaden the musical ideas, enriching them and making them more suitable tothe rich palette of colours of contemporary concert bands. A terrific modern addition to the band repertoire.

£352.99Concerto Rococ - Franco Cesarini
The title refers to the historical period that marked the transition between the baroque and classical styles. Rococo music is characterised by a profusion of ornaments, by graceful elegance and lightness of writing. Concerto Rococ consists of three movements: Toccata, Elegie and Gigue en Rondeau - typical musical forms of that time. The concerto is very demanding on the technique of the soloist, but consequently highlights the flute's agility and lyricism.

£119.99Arizona - Franco Cesarini
Arizona is written in a typical three-part overture form. The composition is not strictly descriptive as such, but rather conveys moods and emotions, inspired by impressions of the American desert state of Arizona: the endless, cactus-studded desert landscape, a lone Indian on horseback, the legendary Grand Canyon Railroad, the Petrified Forest and the famous Monument Valley.

£134.99Hunting Tower - Ottorino Respighi
Not much is known about the origin of Huntingtower, except for the fact that this ballad was composed in 1931 by the Italian composer Ottorino Respighi (1879-1936), commissioned by Edwin Franko Goldman and the American Bandmaster Association, and was premiered on 17 April 1932 at a concert in memory of John Philip Sousa in Washington D.C. It is not even certain whether Respighi arranged the work himself, or left this to someone else. Huntingtower is the name of a castle in Scotland, where Respighi spent some time. It is possible that this ballad contains his musical impressions of his stay there. The orchestration on this CD, made by Franco Cesarini in 1987, is an adaptation ofthe work to the demands of the contemporary concert band.

£154.99Harlequin - Franco Cesarini
The overture Harlequin was composed in 1995 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Swiss Federation of Wind Band conductors. The striking ascending and descending melodic lines, heard throughout the composition, together with the intricate rhythm, form an entertaining whole. The work begins with a sparkling opening in which the strong rhythmic brass passages are surrounded by virtuoso woodwind embellishments. The theme of the energetic opening later returns in the Andante Rubato, but in a very different form. The middle movement develops towards a partial repeat of the opening section which leads quickly into a thundering Presto finale.
