Gilroy composed this festive work to commemorate the Twentieth Anniversary of the Lake Sequoia Symphonic Music Camp. Beginning with a brilliant fast section, this is followed by a more serene, introspective section with lyrical lines and soloistic playing in the oboe, horns, and trumpet. The work features an exciting opening theme full of rhythmic vigor followed by a lyrical middle section featuring a solo alto sax. The overture then returns energetically to create a rousing conclusion and a fitting tribute to the spirit of adventurous times long ago.
