In this fascinating piece we experience an exciting adventure in the jungle. The entrance into the "green hell" turns out to be very dangerous with wild monkeys and the roaring of elephants accompanying our way through the dark forest. There seems to be something lurking behind every tree and all of a sudden, a horde of savage cannibals appears. A wild hunt sets off and we escape at the last second by jumping from a cliff into the savage water below. Exotic birds welcome us in a new landscape and from somewhere in the distance we can hear a bamboo flute playing. This is a journey of no return.... The effects (elephants, wild monkeys, exotic birds and rain) should be produced with much creativity - individual ideas are always desirable and welcome. 08:00

The young have the future. This is the statement made at the beginning of 'Like a Child' by Andreas Ludwig Schulte. The opening radiates strength and ambition, but one is also made to wonder which direction will be chosen, which choices will have to be made.After the introduction the first steps on the path of life are taken, still somewhat unsteadily (the 3/4th time used illustrates this uncertainty). However, the child has now set off and will meet the future with an open mind, unafraid, even though experience will teach it how easily it can be hurt.Fortunately, it is sometimes allowed to be vulnerable and it discovers there will always be someone to offer shelter, support and love. Neckarmarsch (Concert Band - Score and Parts)
The town of Schwenningen at the source of the Neckar inspired Wolfgang W?ssner to compose this march song. In the trio he employed Friedrich Silcher's well-known folk song Am Neckar. The march is composed in 6/8 time throughout, with the folk song theme likewise arranged in this meter. An optional performance with male choir is possible, with the first two verses, together with the last verse, sung. 02:40

Panoptikum (Concert Band - Score and Parts)
Armin Schaer commissioned this work in his search for a new piece for the tuba. More specifically, he wanted a work that showed off the versatility of this splendid instrument, written in a musical style that is both fresh and modern, while not banishing the orchestra to a simple supporting role. Taking all these specifications into account, Thomas Doss created a work that allows stylistic leaps and is fun, exciting, romantic, and virtuosic, but does not lose sight of the thread that connects the opening measures to the very last.Armin Schaer describes his Panoptikum as follows:Panoptikum is a show of appreciation for my beautiful home and community at Lake Constance, an eventful life, the people that have enriched this life, and a fascinating instrument: the tuba. This work musically embodies the many different moods found around theBodensee - cheerfulness and melancholy, departures and longing, calm and agitation. The roles of the soloist and the orchestra were consciously crafted in a way that does not follow the usual conventions of the genre. The work should spark emotions, address broad segments of listeners, and persuade them of the tuba's ability to be a solo instrument as well as the richness symphonic wind ensembles have to offer. I hope this work enriches the lives of all the soloists and orchestras that cross its path, as well as everyone in the audience who gets to partake! 15:30

In the last movement, two well-known tunes alternate, but at the end several of the tunes used in the work all combine together to make an exciting climax. Duration: 8mins.

Les Trois Mousquetaires (The Three Musketeers) was commissioned by the Miraphone company for the Miraphone Tuba Quartett and the Musique des Gardiens de la Paix (Paris, France). It was premi?red in Guebwiller (France), on 28 June 2003 by its dedicatees.Even if you have never read a line of the mythical novel The Three Musketeers (1844) by Alexandre Dumas, father, you will at least have?heard of the "four invincibles"; four extraordinary names - D'Artagnan, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis - and one unique motto "All for one, and one for all." The musical texture of Les Trois Mousquetaires is focused on specific elements of a character's personality rather than on its influence on the book's plot. Maxime Aulio has largely turned his attention on D'Artagnan, the sensitive, romantic and perfect gentleman who is easily charmed by women such as the gentle Constance Bonacieux and the perfidious Milady de Winter whose beguiling beauty seduced him. The first movement - D'Artagnan - is true to the character of the young provincial noble of the Gascony region: heroic and enthusiastic in all circumstances. The second movement entitled Constance Bonacieux, is romantic, delicate and passionate. The third and last movement is as duplicitous as the bewitching femme fatale its reveals: Milady de Winter.

It tells the tale of two brothers who differed greatly, one was handsome and the other a huntchback. The huntchback stabbed his brother after he had taken his bride from him and for this was sentenced to death.
