£50.80Dance of the One-legged Sailor - Dick van Heuvel
The work describes a short dance by a one-legged sailor. In the 6/8 beat the sailor always makes the wrong steps and gets furious about it. So he stamps his wooden leg (sounded by beats on two large woodblocks) in anger on the floor. Yet he tries again and each time the theme changes a little bit. The two passages when the musicians blow air through their instruments (measures 44-45 and 63-64) represent the sailor's sighing. The 'Dance of the one-legged sailor' also offers several possibilities to bring this sailor on the stage during the performance of the composition.

£149.40Joyful Life - Jerker Johansson
When Jerker Johansson in the 80's started to compose he was for a while obsessed with writing music in odd time signatures, more specifically 7/8. He was asked during the fall of 2020 by Leif Karlsson (former member of the legendary percussion ensemble Kroumata and nowadays conductor) to write something challenging for Uppsala Blsarsymfoniker and this resulted in Joyful Life. The piece is, to say the least, difficult to tap the pulse along to and is something of a baptism of fire for the musicians, regarding rhythmic precision. Joyful Life is dedicated to the always likeable Leif Karlsson (Joyful Leif!) and was premiered on the 15th November 2020 by The Swedish Air Force Band under the baton of the composer.

£68.80A Aalk in the Park - Scott Rogers
Every beginning musician should have experience playing in time in addition to 2/4 and 4/4. In concept learning, playing in is important to the musicians understanding of more complex triple meters, like 6/8. A Walk in the Park provides a gentle waltz that also introduces the use of legato lines, rallentando, fermata and crescendo/decrescendo.

£149.40Lokk, dans og vise - Bjørn Mellemberg
This piece is a collection of three folk songs from Nord-Gudbrandsdal in Norway. To the Conductor: First part (from bar 8): The trumpets presents the theme while the horns and trombones represents a kind of echo "from a distance" and softer in style. Part two from bar 19: This is a dance in which the first and third beat are the most important. In part 3 (from bar 44) the phrasing should be 4+2+4+2.

Hold This Boy and Listen - Carter Pann
Commissioned by the Colorado Wind Ensemble, Hold This Boy and Listen is inspired by Carter Pann's young nephew, David Paulus, Jr. It is unusually quiet and subdued for a wind band composition, and will prove to be a great exercise in restraint for developing players. Hold This Boy and Listen has also just been added to the Texas UIL required music list. For intermediate players. Duration: 8'
