This is a medley from the advent series "Snowfall" produced by NRK, the Norwqegian Broadcasting Corporation. The series tells the story about the orphan Selma who dreams of having her own family. She finds a secret portal into the fantasy world "Snowfall". Love, danger and magic await her there. The arrangement open up possibilities for soloist in several sections. The original music for orchestra is extremely dynamic in volume. We encourage the bands to achieve the same. Duration: 8.00

Extra Score. Musings opens with an unaccompanied oboe presenting the main theme which is a cipher o the name Paul Hindmarsh to whom this work is dedicated. Most of the ensuing music is based on this theme in one variant or another. whilst basically a set of variations, occasionally a motif will assume more importance in the following section, the main theme never being too far away. This music goes through many mood swings but finally the opening idea reveals itself agian and fades away on piccolo and glockenspiel. Muskoka Landing (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Williams, Mark

Inspired by a trip to the beautiful Muskoka region of Ontario, Canada, this exciting concert and contest overture will inspire your students to achieve new heights of musicianship and have a whole lot of fun at the same time. With a powerful opening, the 4/4 Allegro sets up a rhythmic vamp which is the foundation for a catchy main theme and the development which follows. The music then transitions to a lyric 3/4 Andante con moto which is filled with rich harmonies and counterpoint. A return to the music of the opening plus a brief coda bring the music to its rousing conclusion. Duration: 4.00

Modest Mussorgsky (1839--1881) was a relatively unknown composer during his lifetime, but some of his works are among today's best-known pieces in concert halls and films. His orchestral work Night on Bald Mountain was immortalised by Walt Disney in Fantasia, and Pictures at an Exhibition is one of the most performed pieces by symphony orchestras. Selections from these two pieces are wonderfully transcribed for young band in Mussorgsky! The arrangement begins with the mystical opening from Night on Bald Mountain which transitions to the hauntingly beautiful conclusion of that same work. To conclude is the Great Gate of Kiev from Pictures at an Exhibition which is one of music literature's most inspiring moments.Duration: 3.00

This highly popular Scottish song (subtitled A Ballad of Home) was in fact composed by a Canadian, Laura Gertrude Lemon (15 October 1866 - 18 August 1924) who lived and worked in England, with words by a Londoner Wilfred Mills (the pen name of William Alfred Braund) who never set foot in Scotland. It was first published in 1905 and has subsequently become a favourite for Scots remembering their homeland when far away from home. This arrangement for band combines careful orchestration and some warm harmony to enhance the beauty of the melody.Duration: 2.50
