High Voltage is an especially energetic composition in the big band style. The blaring brass and the ornate interplay of the woodwinds lend this work great character and conviction. In the second half of the piece two solos are played: firstly the tenor saxophone (alternatively alto saxophone), followed by a virtuoso variation in the trombone (alternatively baritone/euphonium).Duration: 3:40

Gettysburg, PA - July 3, 1863. It would be difficult to find another grade 2 selection with as much drama and musical depth as this impressive work from young band master, Michael Sweeney. Depicting the momentous events of the final day of battle at Gettysburg in the Civil War, this composition paints vivid musical images including the early morning church bells, the artillery duel between the two armies, the parade-like advance of Confederate troops in Pickett's charge, and ultimately the crucial final battle. Included are extensive historical notes to help make this a complete and meaningful experience for performers and listeners alike. A one-of-a-kind composition!

Highdays and Holidays (The Mortimer Revel) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sparke, Philip

Highdays and Holidays was commissioned by the South Berks Concert Band to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2016. The band rehearses in the village of Mortimer, which has a long and fascinating history dating back to, and beyond, the Bronze Age. Mortimer is famous for The Mortimer Revel, an annual event which was apparently a fairly rumbustious and sometimes violent affair. Highdays and Holidays seeks to capture some of this festive event in the form of an energetic overture, which explores a variety of moods including the somewhat chaotic atmosphere of the Revel.
