Visions (Flute or Violin Solo with Concert Band and Optional Treble Choir - Score and Parts) - Rutter, John - Noble, Paul

Visions is one of John Rutter's most recent compositions (2016). It was written for violin solo, treble voice choir, strings and harp. This arrangement maintains the violin solo as an option, but it is presented as a flute (and optionally with a movement for alto flute) solo with band. The vocal parts are included as an option, but the arrangement is also scored so that it may be performed without the treble choir. Visions is a tribute to Jerusalem, with the four movements titled: 1. Jerusalem the blessed; 2. Arise, shine; 3. Lament for Jerusalem; 4. Finale: The holy city. A showcase for the soloist, the depth of meaning and feeling in this music will make it an important addition to the repertoire of the Concert/Wind Band.

Visions of Aranjuez (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Williams, Mark

Legends of the Spanish countryside come to life in this driving original by Mark Williams. A fiery tempo combined with syncopated rhythms make this a sure-fire crowd pleaser. Visions of Australia

Visions of Australia' is a musical panorama paying tribute to the epochs in Australia's history from its Aboriginal predecessors through to its 'yet to be determined' future. The journey begins with a tribute to Australia's aboriginal past, the arrival of the British Navy and the establishment of the first colony on the shores of Sydney Harbour. The journey then meanders through to the development of electricity and communication, through the wars and to the present. Following a brief reflection on the past, the music concludes with a stirring and patriotic march-like section representing a confident and bold future. The work is a great challenge for all sections of the band and will be easily accessible to any audience.

Flourishing woodwind opening heralds a brilliant brass declaration contrasted by the warm sonorities of a beautiful Andante section. Interesting interplay of flight motives moves the ensemble to a dramatic conclusion.

Visions of Glory

An opening fanfare gives the listener an immediate burst of energy before transitioning to a melodic dialogue that quickly evolves into an exciting rhythmic collaboration between all the instruments of the ensemble. A slower lyrical middle section weaves the melody seamlessly between the choirs of instruments. Flowing melodies, contemporary harmonies and effective percussion writing will make "Visions of Glory" a perfect festival selection.

Vistas (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Hodges, Steve

Featuring two melodic motives that are developed texturally and rhythmically throughout the piece, Vistas begins in a light, reflective manner before gradually building into a majestic contrapuntal statement by the brass. A driving percussion introduction begins the Vigoroso section and provides the rhythmic foundation for the second "Vista." This minor setting of the initial motives provides an exciting variation that features a variety of meter changes and syncopated passages. A restatement of the initial motives with the driving rhythmic accompaniment begins an extended conclusion that brings the piece to a dynamic finish. Duration: 4.15

Viterbo shares its name with a province located in the Latium region of Italy. Its landscape, a mixture of flatland, rolling hills and lakes, contains many artefacts of the Roman Empire as well as the preceding Etruscan civilization.
