As with the first symphony, the second symphony is not programmatic as such, but also takes its inspiration from the confrontation of man with his role in nature. Dedicated to the 2011 National Garden Show in Upper Austria, this symphony earned its subtitle Symphony in Green and explores musically the connotation of this colour as the colour of nature, of life and of hope. 28:45

The Great Spirit is a two part symphonic work that Ferrer Ferran dedicated to the famous Spanish architect, Antoni Gaudi. Ferran depicts various stages of the life of this ingenious architect and master of round, organic forms and shapes: from his humble beginnings to working on the Sagrada Familia, which would turn into a life-long task. Mirroring Gaudi's architecture, the musical lines of Gaudi are fluid and organic, the structure expansive, rich in colour and spellbinding, just like the buildings of the great Catalan architect. 14:45

Symphony No. 2 - Views of Edo (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Cesarini, Franco

Edo is the ancient name for the city of Tokyo. Inspired by a series of woodcuts by the artist Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) entitled "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo", Cesarini's symphony is based upon a few traditional Japanese melodies. The composition is divided into five movements in arch form: a structure in which the individual sections are arranged symmetrically around a centre. Each movement takes its title from a print from the "One Hundred Views".

Symphony No. 5 (Theme From The Second Movement) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Schubert, Franz - Johnson, Stuart

Schuberts delightful 5th Symphony in Bb major, written in 1816, is a miniature, perhaps avoiding comparison with Beethovens 5th, written just 10 years earlier. Schuberts Great was to come later. Johnson, Stuart has taken the theme from the 2nd movement, Andante con moto, and brought this gem within the reach of technically less advanced players without diminishing the musical quality.

Symphony No. 9, from the New World (Finale) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Dvorak, Antonin - Harnsberger, L. C.

This surprisingly accurate, yet playable Dvor?k transcription will enhance any program. Great pains were taken to keep this transcription pure, and the result is a wonderfully written version of one of the orchestral repertoire's most popularly performed pieces. To further enhance the performance experience, the key has been changed from E minor to the more band-friendly key of F minor.
