The sparkling music from Soweto (South Africa) has a long history. The rhythmic dances of Kwela, the 'syncopated guitars' of Mbaqanga, the saxophones and trumpets with their supple African jazz sounds as well as the infectious and sometimes gripping choir singing. Space Journey (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Ciechomski, Brad

Space Journey is a three-movement suite depicting the launch, orbit and return to earth of a spaceship. Blast Off Into Orbit begins with a dramatic launch portraying the spaceship powering into the atmosphere. Zero Gravity allows the listener to float in space as a Lydian melody in the flute provides a light, weightless feeling while the percussion accompanies on metallic instruments. Re-entry to Earth features a descending fanfare announcing the return of the ship through the atmosphere back to earth. The ceremonial theme depicts the spaceship breaking through the sky, and landing in full glory.Duration: 5.00

Spain (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Corea, Chick - Murtha, Paul

Composed by jazz pianist Chick Corea and recorded on his landmark 1973 album Light as a Feather, this vibrant work has solidified its standing as a jazz fusion classic. The lyrical and sensuous opening features a solo tenor sax, followed by a fast and energetic Latin pulse that features the melody traded between various sections of the band. Paul Murtha's exciting version is effectively crafted for the concert stage.Duration: 4.00

Spania

A delightful Spanish march for developing bands that is a real confidence builder and a terrific teaching tool. Written in the classic "paso doble" style, all sections in the band have interesting parts and it will be a real "showstopper" on any concert or contest performance. Very highly recommended!
