On the morning of April 19th 1995, in the single most violent act of domestic terrorism in the history of the United States, a bomb blast ripped through the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The explosion claimed 168 lives, including 19 children who attended the day care centre on the building's first floor.Across the street from the Murrah Building, an American Elm tree was severely damaged by the blast, but somehow managed to survive.
