Burn the Church ! - Otto M. Schwarz

In the 16th century, Lille was part of Spanish-ruled Flanders, governed by Charles V and later Philip II. The region was shaken by civil, independence, and religious wars. Philip II persecuted Protestants, who were labeled as heretics and "the Wretched." On August 15, 1566, an uprising occurred with numerous plunderings in the region. On December 26, 1566, 400 "Wretched" attacked Wattrelos and defended themselves the next day in the cemetery and in the church. The Catholics set the church on fire, where many "Wretched" burned or fled. Some managed to escape with the help of the inhabitants. Wattrelos commemorates this event annually in September with the "Berlouffes" festival. During this festival, dolls are thrown from the church tower, and a large doll is burned.

The music is continuously propelled forward by driving rhythms and challenging ensemble passages that dart and soar like a high-speed roller coaster of sound. As the melodic lines fly by theyre constantly fueled by a steady influx of jazz-styled figures that dash through a variety of musical influences including Latin, flamenco, and tango. Caution! Contents contain a volatile mix of musically flammable materials.

Burning Love - Dennis Linde

In the seventies, Elvis Presley gave many concerts with an orchestra that included a large wind section. These concerts were characterised by enthusiasm and a fast tempo. Burning Love was one of the up-tempo numbers where the bass guitar player played an especially important role. Thus, this arrangement of Burning Love, written by Thijs Oud, brings a specific challenge for the musicians in the low register. The trumpets and the trombones can also play standing behind the band adding to the visual and dynamic enhancement.

Burnished Brass: A Concert Opener - James Barnes

Written in a quick two, this Show-Style Opener lives up to its title with much of the thematic materials in the opening theme faalling to the brass, while the woodwinds interject flourishes and counterpoints. The woodwinds come to the fore during the middle section until the brass take over again when the original theme returns, leading to a rousing finish.
