Cakewalk - Hershy Kay

Known for his extensive orchestration work with Leonard Bernstein and numerous Broadway hits, Hershy Kay was a notable composer in his own right. This movement is taken from his popular Cakewalk ballet suite for orchestra, which was based on piano melodies of Louis Moreau Gottschalk. The style of this music adapts beautifully for band in this effective setting by Robert Longfield.

Calais - Douvres - Guillaume Détrez

Bordered by high whitish cliffs, the Channel Strait is considered one of the busiest maritime areas in the world. Since the 19th century, ferries have linked the city of Calais (France) to that of Dover (United Kingdom). This piece is made up of several passages from boarding to crossing, landscapes and the arrival where a few little musical winks are heard. Even if Brexit is there, the Franco-British friendship remains very present.

Caldas da Rainha - Jacob de Haan

The city of Caldas da Rainha lies on the west coast of Portugal. The name refers to the thermal baths (caldas) as well as to the word for queen (rainha). This festive work depicts several beautiful venues of 'Rainha', and can beseen as a tribute to the queen Eleanor, who founded the settlement at the end of the 15th Century.
