White Light - Philip Sparke

Composer Philip Sparke decided to use the idea of white to write a piece that was both bright and light in terms of harmony, colour and orchestration. He achieves this by using simple major and minor chords and emphasising the pure, transparent timbres of the upper woodwinds of the band. He was also keen to capture the essence and history of the oboe as a solo instrument. A perfect way to put your oboist in the spotlight.

White River Ballad - David Gorham

It is easy to imagine the quiet, beautiful river, with its great trees and lush vegetation, flowing downstream. This music depicts a fascinating journey, at times gaining momentum as the stream twists through the various bends, and increasing or decreasing in speed as the river channel gets deeper or shallower, or gets wider or narrower. A beautiful, romantic journey that eventually ends as serenely as it began.

White River Canyon (Overture) - John Higgins

Certainly a standard repertoire selection among grade 2 overtures, this John Higgins original work for developing groups expresses the spirit and vivid imagery of the American West.

White River Revival - Larry MacTaggart

This invigorating work is well worth your consideration. White River Revival takes you on a musical journey along the twists and turns of the White River, which stretches almost 700 miles through the beautiful Missouri and Arkansas countryside. Musical adventures relay the fun of trout fishing and an old-time religious revival held along the river. This is truly an audience-pleasing travelogue.

White Water Journey - Bruce Preuninger

Whitewater Journey takes both the performers and audience on an adventurous river-ride over foaming rapids and swiftly flowing currents. Midway through the trip, a gentle respite is encountered where the grandeur of the scenery can be appreciated, but soon the river again demands attention until the final destination is safely reached.

White Winged Flight - Tom De Haes

White Winged Flight was commissioned by the association 'Moza ek', the cultural collaboration of the Belgian municipalities Bonheiden, Duffel, Putte and Sint-Katelijne-Waver. The work is based on 4 notes that each stand for the name of the municipality. The title refers to the white-winged flight of a peace dove and is a call for reconciliation and peace. It is a brilliant piece of music in which you can hear the positive message throughout the parts. It is lively, colourful and offers plenty of great playing for all instrument groups.

Whitewater Run - Ed Kiefer

This driving rhythmic piece is written to depict an exhilarating run down a whitewater river. Composer Ed Kiefer draws on his years of experience as a band director to provide a perfect choice for younger bands with small forces in the lower voices as those sections are mostly scored in unison. A welcome addition to the repertoire for young band festival performances.
