The opera-ballet Mlada was an epic project involving six different Russiancomposers including Mussorgsky, Borodin and Rimsky-Korsakov. Unfortunately the work didn't ever receive a performance howeverthe festive march assumed a life of its own in an orchestration byRimsky-Korsakov. This has remained one of Mussorgsky's lesserknownworks however it has been given a new lease of life with this fine arrangement for concert band.

Triumphal Ode

Triumphal Ode is a recently discovered and formerly unpublished Howard Hanson band piece. Editor James Ripley came upon it during his research at the Eastman School of Music. It appears to have been written in 1918 and therefore would be considered the first wind band piece by an American composer. A historically significant and musically interesting piece from Hanson's early career, Triumphal Ode is typical of his neo-romantic sensibilities and is a significant addition to the band repertoire.

Triumphal Overture - Anne McGinty

Based on a vigorous and persistent rhythmic motif, Triumphal Overture is written in three-part form, with energetic opening and closing sections separated by one in a more relaxed tempo. (4:45)

Triumphal Prelude - Thomas Doss

This work was commissioned by the Musikkapelle Heiden, Germany, on the occasion of the centenary of this versatile and energetic music society. Triumphal Prelude begins with fireworks of sounds and fanfares, which are worthy of a centennial. It is therefore an ideal opening work. Undoubtedly, the sparkling music will enthrall the audience, thanks to the dazzling sound of the Brass players - who can be heard above the radiant performance of the Woodwind players.
