Three Colonial Moments - Rick Kirby

Depicting three contrasting and intriguing settings from early American lore, Rick Kirby masterfully brings these images to life in a suite for band. The first movement tells the legend of The Phantom Drummer with unique orchestrationaleffects. The second movement, The Ladys Lament, mourns the loss of loved ones in the Revolutionary War, and the suite concludes with the lively dance Virginia Two-Step. Rich in stylistic and tonal variety, this is an appealing work forconcert or festival use.

Three Dance Episodes (from On the Town) - Leonard Bernstein

The 1944 musical On the Town represents Leonard Bernstein's first venture onto the Broadway stage. Inspired by his successful ballet Fancy Free, the musical follows the adventures of three sailors on shore leave in New York Cityand is focused around a series of dance episodes, three of which Bernstein selected for an orchestral suite. Long unavailable for band, this 2016 edition is beautifully transcribed by Paul Lavender. Dur: c. 11:00

Three Dance Miniatures - Philip Sparke

Three Dance Miniatures was commissioned by Toyoshi and Keiko Namikawa to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the founding of their Tokyo-based music dealership, Teine Corporation. Composer Philip Sparke has been a friend of the firm's owners for many years and was delighted to be asked to write this celebratory work for them. The piece is in three movements, which are played without a break.

Three Dances From The Maid Of Orleans - Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky

This fine addition to the Bourgeois Editions is from Tchaikovskys grand opera, The Maid of Orleans. Based on the story of Joan of Arc, the three movements can be performed together, or the first and last dances can stand alone in performance as well. Movements include: Dance of the Bohemians - a bright and lively display of virtuosity; Dance of the Pages - an elegant minuet scored for chamber winds; and Dance of the Actors - a fiery and robust finale ideal for any performance. Its a brilliant showcase for upper-level ensembles.
