Composer/arranger Sean O'Loughlin has provided a refreshing new setting of our National Anthem. It was originally written for orchestral brass and percussion and has been performed at both MLB and NBA events. The arrangement begins with a bold fanfare to set the tone, but also to provide the motive glue to hold the arrangement together and create something unique. Creative harmonic usage and colorful orchestration really make this version stand out from the rest.

This arrangement sounds especially great. Andy Balent's setting is so stirring that your audience will want to stand up and salute. You'll find that the simplifications and range adjustments that make this work accessible to young bands have not diminished the excitement one bit. Some sections, such as the dogfight, do push the top end of this level, but with a bit of work, we think you will be thrilled with the outcome. This is a perfect flag waver for young bands.

Programmatic in nature, this work depicts the opening of the first operational steel mill in the United States. Carefully written so it can be performed in the first year of instruction, it uses only the first notes learned in most beginning band methods. Young players will be able to have the experience of performing a mature-sounding composition with reasonable technical demands and fun special effects.

Sergei Prokofiev's The Stone Flower (opus 118) is his eighth and last ballet, composed between 1948 and 1950. His most famous ballets are Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella and Le Pas d'Acier.The Stone Flower is based on a Russian folk tale from the Ural Mountains. The premiere of the work took place in 1954, one year- after the dead of the composer. The ballet's storyline, rich with myth and legend, is set against the backdrop of the mystical Ural Mountains and centers on themes of love, artistry, and the conflict between material wealth and spiritual fulfillment.In 1951, Prokofiev arranged five movements from the ballet which were later published as the Wedding Suite (opus 126).
