The Golden Gryphon by Tom De Haes portrays three distinguished characteristics of this fascinating mythical beast: the gryphon as guardian of the divine mystery; the winged gryphon, pulling the chariot of the sun god Helios; and the gryphon as heroic, invincible creature. The composition begins mysteriously, before the appearance of the three themes - at _x005F_x001F_first individually, and then contrapuntally combined. A majestic chorale leads us _x005F_x001F_finally to a dignified ending.

Written as a tribute to the Army Paratrooper team, this tuneful, mid-tempo march contains interesting parts for each section, with a short drum break before the trio that makes the piece a good choice for a little feature for the percussion section as well.
